DOTD: Pink & Black

OMG!! So I was totally tired of wearing pants (I think I mentioned that in my last post). So this morning with so much work to be done before COB... I decided that I needed to feel like myself. So I went looking for a skirt that I could wear today. I opted for the outfit that you see below:

Outfit Breakdown:
Top: Curve Appeal Consignment (inside tags Torrid) size 1
Cami: Old Navy size XL
Skirt: Laurel Thrift Store
Tights: Silkies Microfiber Tights
Boots: don't remember... see
Earrings: Asian Beauty Supply Store (near my house)
Braided Headband: Tonytail Thick Braidies

I can't remember what I did with my makeup. I was playing with different pinks. And this was the outcome. It's amazing... I think it turned out DAMN GOOD...

You know as I always say... OPINIONS Welcome!!!!

Hasta tomorrow!!

DOTD: Teal & Brown... again

So today I had a meeting with the Director of my "section" and I wanted to look nice since the man last saw me like 3 or 4 months ago. Also, I wanted him to see that I carry myself professionally and that I am so READY for that Program Management position in a year. So... I wanted to be comfortable since I was going to have to walk to the building, but I also wanted to be cute. Well, that means I go with things that are safe. Which would usually mean a skirt... but it is like alaska polar bear balls cold outside... AND... I didn't want to wear black pants 2 days in a row (even though I have like 10 pair of black pants in varying lengths and styles). But I desparately need some blue slacks, but apparently they don't make those anymore... in my size... but I digress...

So below you will find my outfit and makeup of the day. I went with teal and brown. I love this belt but its now too big... so I need another one. Going to do a search online for some stretchy belts. As I lost 75lbs about a year ago (gained back 15)... these belts were a godsend. As stress in work has increases and I've lost weight again. The one I'm wearing today... keeps moving all over the place rather then staying in place.

fashion sidenote: those belts are great for when you have old shirts and sweaters that are huge but you want to bring them closer to your curves.

Outfit Breakdown
Top: Consignment size 3X (you guessed it... Curve Appeal)
Pants: New York & Company size L
Belt: Lane Bryant size 22/24
Boots: Don't remember
Socks (you can't see): Target... they are brown, tan, and teal (how cute is that??)
Necklace: Target
Earrings: Asian Beauty Supply Store near my house

Makeup sidenote: I used all muted earth tones today (boring brown, bronze, and taupe) and then when it was done... I wanted to cry... so I took my blending brush and brushed over a glazing of teal color. Sorry... I tried... its not in my nature...

Hasta Whenever... :)

Addicted...

Okay... so after I apply my makeup I put on a clear gloss until I get to my office. Because... well... most days... I need the horrible lighting to know which color will make the look complete.  So today... I decided to spread out all my lip stuff and glosses... and well... shield your eyes... its not pretty.

What's worse... is the red pouch I didn't even know I had it stashed in my briefcase. Not to mention what is stored in my makeup case (which could shield a small child from a fire). This is getting sad... I mean... I should be standing up somewhere and saying...
Hi... My name is Yoli... and I'm a Gloss-Aholic. Is there a 12 step program to less gloss purchases. What is really sad... is that I noticed that my Smashbox clear gloss is almost gone. And instead of thinking, I'll use what I have... I immediately thought (here is where is gets sick folks)...
I should replace that by buying some MAC lip glass... That's right... MORE GLOSS!!!

So my followers... if you see me in Sephora, or at the MAC store in Columbia. Or if you just in general see my silly ass ANYWHERE... buying GLOSS... STOP ME!!!

Here is what my makeup up case looks like (true to life pictures coming soon):

What makes this so much sadder... is that this box above doesn't hold all my makeup. I need another something to hold my foundation, additional lipgloss and my brushes. **Product is: Caboodles Cosmetic Pro**

Great Day... DOTD

Today was a good day. I mean, I worked like a runaway slave. But I looked good, I felt good, and I have the support and love of good friends and followers. **Thanks Diva Dawn & I Bleed Pink**

So here is my outfit and makeup from today... It wasn't anything seriously original, but I did feel cute. And isn't that what matters? Again... I welcome any criticism. Hasta Manana!!!

Dear Anonymous...

First of all I would like to say I do appreciate you stopping by my blog and looking around. I am always glad to find new readers. I also appreciate your criticism, I mean, how are we to improve if not given direction. But as I work very hard on these and they are my joy, I want to every opportunity to make changes for the better. Having said that, I would like to take the time to address the comments that you left for me regarding my color choices in eyeshadow.

First of all let me state that I am in no way a makeup artist. I have never claimed to be. I am simply a woman who loves makeup, feeling good about herself and experimenting with color. I have over 150 different colors at my disposal, I think that sometimes we need to take chances and I for one, am confident enough in myself to take certain risks when it comes to my style choices. I am not afraid to try new things, or to play it "safe" by using only restricted colors in my palate.

Having said that, sometimes I come up with color combinations that are gorgeous. Sometimes I am not so lucky. But, no matter the outcome, I take pics, post them onto my blog and even have the guts to say, " this is not my best work" or " I was going for this look, didn't make it. Any suggestions on how I can get there?".

While I appreciate your criticism. I do however have to ask myself why someone with such a vast opinion of what I am doing "wrong" would post such opinionated comments yet, you hide behind the cloak of " anonymous". I would think that someone with your level of style and expertise in the matters of fashion and makeup implementation would certainly want to get their name out there so that they could help color impaired Diva's like myself correct their ever so horrid mistakes, such as wearing the wrong shade of Pink and Green. I mean, if you know so much about makeup and or fashion. Shouldn't I be allowed to see your look?

Having said that. I would like to see what you, yourself have put together. I mean, if you are going to tell me that I am doing it wrong, rather than as you suggested watch Bobbi Brown or someone on YouTube show me how to do it, I would like to take lessons from a master such as yourself. Especially when I check for videos on dark skin eyeshadow everyone under the sun is doing dark and smokey and taupe... is that what I am to be limited to because I am dark skinned? If you knew me personally, you would know that those colors do not in any way match my personality or style.

So, here is my challenge to you. I am woman enough to stand up and say Here I am, and Here is what I am trying. If you have as much confidence in your own skills as you certainly have shown you have in your opinions of others choices, than maybe you will be willing to help me correct my " mistakes".

Thanks again for reading. Have a colorful day.

OOTD/DOTD: Monday and Tuesday

So yesterday, I was having a seriously bad hair day... but I think my outfit was cute. I also wasn't a big fan of my makeup yesterday either. I think I went a little too blue. The problem I'm having is that I don't have that natural sunlight to help with my makeup. So when I come into the building under these horrible flourescent lights, it makes my makeup look too bright... and then it over powers my face. Atleast that is my opinion. So here is my OOTD for Monday:

Now today... I am feeling much better about EVERYTHING... I love my outfit. I love my makeup, and I think my hair is cute considering tomorrow I will be rocking my new style.  FanTASTIC Tuesday DOTD (Diva of the Day):

Sorry the full body pictures aren't more clear and detailed. But my hubby hasn't mastered the art of photography as of yet.

Important SIDENOTE:
If you are a fan of Maybelline... or if you just like the gleam my lips have on both days... you have to know that Walgreen's & Rite-Aid Pharmacies are having a 40% off Maybelline Sale. On both days I am wearing 2 layers of Maybelline.

Monday: Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss in Broadway Bronse (315), and over that Maybelline Shine Sensational Lip Gloss in Peach Sorbet (05)
Tuesday: Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss in Touch of Toffee (255), and over that Maybelline Shine Sensational Lip Gloss in Peach Sorbet (05)

DOTD: Sunday Jan. 24th

So today... I decided to go chic and wear my cap all day. I also decided I wanted to do the teal & brown look... which I LOVE. I am wearing jeans... but why can't you be sexy and cute in jeans. So  since the jeans arent anything to write home about, so I only have the top portion of myself here (that and because I asked my husband to take the photos and realized later, that he hadn't taken any full body shots).  Tell me what you think...
