DOTN: Hallows Eve Party Girl

I’m not going out to a Halloween party… I’m just going Latin dancing and it is the first opportunity I’ve had to wear my slash side leggings. Also, I don’t usually wear shirts that hug my stomach but after seeing that I am the only blogger living in that ridiculous fear, I decided to have fun with it.

Also, this is my first time wearing anything from Size Appeal. I love this top. Its super comfortable and soft and I feel pretty in this color. If I had an opportunity I would get this top in the other colors so that I could make multiple outfits from this versatile top. What do you think?

DOTD: Stripe a pose

I realize that when I am really feeling my outfit you can see it shine through in the pics. Today’s outfit is one of those things that when the outfit came to mind, I knew it was exactly that outfit that was going to make me feel fabulous. I wasn’t disappointed… I feel fabulous and I’m glad because I know so many plus women who refuse to wear stripes because of the old fashion rules. I think with most fashion things… its all about what you feel.

The job I was to start this week hasn’t happened yet, so I needed my fashion to help lift my spirits… nothing much else is going on…. How are things going for you? Do you wear stripes? What do you think of today's outfit?

DOTD: Too broke to travel

Since a lot of the bloggers I know are currently making their way to the Sonsi Full Figure Fashion Week in LA, I felt the need to be over dressed as though I were going to be among those celebrating. This outfit was something I had been thinking for about since I got this silver/white glittery jacket and couldn’t wait to wear it. But the shoes always seemed off. Then i got these glittery masterpieces and I thought this is what this outfit needed… but it may still be missing the mark. What do you think? Would you change anything?

Jeans: Wal-mart

DOTD: Going against the grain…

Well, today I decided to do a look without any color. This was hard for me because I totally wanted to rock this with red booties. I hope that it shows that I am willing to step out my color box to proof that my fashion is not one sided.

Now yesterday something happened that made me realize where I really want my life to go. I still plan on starting my stylist business which is technically already started. But I decided that after all the bullying and problems in schools, I want to mentor plus size teens and students. I want to show the youth that “It does get better” and that fat is more accepted when you walk the walk and talk the talk… If you act like a victim they will treat you as one. I want to empower these girls and boys and let them know that when you accept yourself, others will accept you. You want to know what started this, while trying to get my cell fixed I met a mother whose daughter would call from college crying because the “thin” girls made her feel unwelcome. This has to stop. I was the one that you didn’t have to invite me, I would show up and just be the life of the party… I would be invited next time. If you are always a wall covering… the world will treat you like one…
Stand up and make them notice the plus size divas…

back to the outfit…

I came up with this idea yesterday completely by accident… I wanted to find away to use some items I had previously reviewed on my blog.

Items:
Sizes to Fit Millenium Bustier Dress with rose belt
Lucie Lu Memoir Sweater in Charcoal
Loop 18 Tulle Skirt

Lo Quiero Ahora: Fall/Winter Fashion Wants

Now that I am going to be employed again, I am excited how I will incorporate my more daring style in the work place. But as new ideas come to me, I realize I am missing some pieces to make some of the looks I crave. Here are my top pieces I would love to add to my wardrode:

1. Dramatic Winter Coat – I want it to be in a great color or design. I would love a fuchsia or purple winter coat or a great houndstooth design.

2. Stiletto Oxfords – A great pair of stiletto oxfords would step up any skirt and any suit I wear to a meeting. The outfits have already formed in my mind.

3. Forest Green Pumps – I have just about every color available in my shoes… but the recently I started thinking about how I could really use a pair of Forest Green Pumps in my collection… don’t know why… just want them.

4. Sequin Tanks – I want to take some really masculine looks I have and glam them up a bit with a sequin top.

5. Crazy patterned tights – I want crazy colors, patterns, and designs. I want to wear them with boring outfits to kick then up a notch…

DOTD: A bit of my signature color

Oh my gosh I have had such a great couple of days. Most importantly is that I should start a new job next week. I haven’t been this excited about anything in a very very long time. I love you all for all your support during this period of unemployment. But I can’t wait to show you my daily work outfits and my style as I adapt to work life yet again.

Today, after the excitement of it all I decided to put on my “signature color”. If you’re fairly new to my blog then you may not understand the significance but I previously indicated to my readers that red was my power color (also the color I wore on my interview). And later someone (my bff) said that if red was my power color than purple was my signature color… then later someone said when I wear purple I make it my biach… I have to admit… I do feel pretty when I’m in purple. I feel better than pretty… I feel glamorous…

So to continue my good feeling, I used my shirt that I purchased with my Loop18 winning giftcard from Lane Bryant.  I love this shirt because it came with a belt with purple in the front… the belt is a bit big… but I don’t care…

I added my purple stilettos and this outfit is the result… What do you think?

Diva Spotlight: How bright does this Rubin shine?

I have to give you back information on this particular spotlight… I met this fashionable diva because of her Facebook profile picture. I thought her dress was amazing so I friended her… Her reply was… I’m sorry… do I know you. After I told her why I wanted to be her friend we laughed about it and we converse when our busy schedules allow for it. She told me she was going on vacay and I told her I wanted pictures of her in vacation attire so I could spotlight her… The picture below is our favorite…

Now let’s shine the spotlight on… Diva Rubin

DOTD: With a little help from my friends…

On my last visit to Curve Appeal I indicated that I had gotten 3 covers… and I am estatic with my choices. As I stated on twitter I got the twin to my pink polka dot blazer that i wore in an earlier post SEE POST HERE. The twin is this bright green color and I had to have it… because its one thing to make a pink blazer work in my closet when I love pink so much… how would the green blazer stand up. Well to begin i came up empty on ideas. Had no idea how to make this work even after google searching like items. So I went to my twitter friends and I am grateful for Sabrina of Defying my Closet and from Cid of Cid’s Style File for this idea. They gave me ideas that I was supposed to incorporate navy… but my dark wash denim is as close as I got… I think next time i will take more of a risk. Although this is a risk as well… I want to take it a step further on my next wear.

I also have to say I hated this when i first put it on. Even my son looked at me like I had lost my mind as it wasn’t something I would normally wear. But it was my daughters that did the trick… talking about how great I look. After I slapped on some war paint and earrings i really began to love it… What do you think?
*please note: the top is actually too tops layered over each other… a white cami & a white tube top with lace trim and the belt is wear they meet… lol

Outfit Breakdown:
Cami top: Wal-mart
Lace trim tube top: Dots
Skinny Jeans: Torrid
Boots: Aerosoles
Blazer: Curve Appeal Consignment
Earrings: Wal-mart
