DOTD: Lucie Lu Cardi of my dreams

As a reader of my blog, do you think you can guess my favorite material within 3 guesses. I mean… I wear it a lot. Okay… I will make it easy on you. LACE… I love love love lace… but you may know that already. So when I opened a package from Lucie Lu and I see that its a cardi that has a lace ruffle trimmed bottom, I was in HEAVEN!!! Exact words of my hubby “Its like a tutu sweater” (okay if I didn’t love it before he said that… I definitely loved it after he called it a tutu!!)

I decided to wear mine with all black and my navy/denim booties. Those are my Torrid twill skinny jeans and a black lace tank I purchased from Newport News. I put on my navy earrings and (a not so favorite…) blue eyeshadow (I am determined to find a blue look that works for me).

Back to the cardi, it is a soft knit that moves when I move. Its long sleeved and did I mention it has LACE ruffles? Not to sound like a broken record, but I really like this cardigan. I was thinking of getting a new blue cardigan, so this couldn’t have come at a better time, I can’t wait to find other ways to wear it. Any suggestions? How would you wear it?

DOTD: Boobylicious and unemployed… again

So today was my last day at my new job. I thought I would be sad but I’m not… because it was completely out of my control. I mean… who could plan for the client running out of funds? No one!! So I am back on the grind looking for a new job. Only this time I am more confident of my abilities because this job ended on such a good note.

I am wearing my new favorite dress… which was perfect because I felt sooo super cute that nothing could break my stride today… This dress may look familiar because it is the purple twin of THIS DRESS

Only… this time I decided to take the belt that came with it and leave in my belt drawer (yes… I have enough of them that I need a drawer). And pulled out my flower belt instead. Then I added flower tights and my velvet booties and I really like out this outfit turned out… and since Purple is my signature color… the color I feel the most confident in… is it any wonder why I was in a good mood all day?
Now… I didn’t realize my bra was peeking out in a few of these shots… so look away if its too much… I’m just getting home and I too rumpled to redo the pics.

Diva Spotlight: Anika

This is a Diva Spotlight I am super excited about doing... Why? Because this fashionista blogger is so great about supporting all other bloggers that it is like honoring Ghandi of the blogger world. She puts so many blogs ahead of her own OOTDs that she is the kindest blogger I know...

Please show some love to your blogger friend and mine...

In her own words:
Here I am in one of my latest designs, you guessed it, a leopard dress. I love leopard-print in every variation, it is a staple in my wardrobe, and I always feel very va va voooom when I work my curves in a leopard creation. And having a sense of humour about how I dress helps LOL. I accented the dress with contrasting white, I love the ruffles, and I don`t care about rules of dressing that probably dictate not wearing ruffles on the girls. Ruffle that, honey! Also, I recently cut my hair after wearing it long for most of my life, I had one of those I might be fat but I can still pull off any hairstyle I want to-moments. Off came 40 cm locks and up went my self esteem. :)
I love your blog honey. Thank you so much for featuring me!♥
xx Anika

DOTD: Lacking Originality

You know there is a lot to be said for not having to think. I wanted to look cute today, but I didn’t want to have to think about what I was going to wear. So as I spent yesterday updating myself on most of my blog subscriptions, I came across an outfit that would be perfect for a Friday (my Friday is on Thursdays). So I borrowed this look from Michaniya of Finally Accepting All of Me. If you click that link it will take you directly to the post that has the outfit I am duplicating. I didn’t want the coloring to be so close but I was unable to find my pink or purple shirt that matches this one exactly (can we say it is time to do some laundry?).

And I’m glad that I didn’t have to think to hard on what I was wearing today. Because to be honest… with me finding out that I will not have a job soon… well… it’s stressful. I knew on Monday but it was confirmed 100% yesterday and I am upset but not like before. I guess because I love the job I was doing but the commute was kicking my arse. So I’m hoping that God’s plan for me includes a better job and shorter commute.

So not to harp on the negative… let’s move onto the outfit. I’m sure you’ve noticed I wear these boots a lot. I can’t tell you how comfortable they are and not to mention they complete any legging/skinny jean look. Plus, it snowed this week and I have no fashionable snow boots, and me busting my arse on black ice while trying to gracefully walk into my office is NOT a good look. So… What do you think?

Outfit Breakdown:
Long Cami: ASOS Curve (came with another shirt)
Teal Top: Target
Lace Back Vest: Sizes To Fit
Skinny Jeans: Torrid (in case you haven’t guessed, I love these jeans)
Boots: Aerosoles (love love love these boots… can’t believe I own Aerosole boots)
Earrings: Walmart

DOTD: We're a bunch of "YES" Women

Stress Stress Stress…

I am experiencing a high level of stress. It was better than it was last week but it still affects the way I am and who the world sees. I felt that I should address stress today because I don’t have one single friend who isn’t going through something currently. I mean anxiety is high and I find that I am trying to be extra bubbly to compensate for friends that seem to be completely in the downers. Maybe that is why I was the way I was last week so that I could be stronger for the people I care about. You know that everyone has a different way of dealing with stress and no one person is the same. But I do know that with my level of stress I try to deal with what I can deal with and eff the rest…

As most of us are mothers, daughters, sisters, employees, bosses, and friends so the list of things for us to do is never ending. But you have to be able to know when to say.. WHEN. I am learning that I can’t be at every event planned by friends. I know I can’t attend every meeting. I also am learning that I can’t do everyone’s extra work when they can’t complete it. I am on a first come, first served basis. If I have no more to give when you need something, sorry, you should have come sooner. So when people try to push you to your limit, understand that saying no doesn’t mean that you’re a bad person. And if the person you have to tell no doesn’t like it and has a problem with you not doing what they want, then let them know a true friend (or family member) would understand that you are just one person and that you can’t do it all.

Stop being a YES WOMAN!!! I feel like the movie Yes Man speaks to me in a special way only I’m the opposite. I say yes to everyone until I am overcome with stuff that I can’t complete because I am overwhelmed. And now I am finally at a place where I am learning how to say NO!! and excepting that not everyone is going to be pleased with my new way of doing things. But I am going to put my family first and make sure my health is part of that and everything else can come in a distance 2nd.  Are you overwhelmed and overstressed?

Now the outfit, I wasn’t going to wear this today, but stress at work needed an outfit that was devoid of color. I meant to smile in the pictures… but I think I was so cold taking these pictures outside… I just wanted to be done with them… lol

Also, you can't tell in the pictures, but these are fishnet tights

What I'm wearing today:
Top: Newport News (I love the little flair out at the bottom
Skirt: ASOS Curve
Fishnet Tights: WeLoveColors
Taupe Stilettos: M.P.S. (Off Broadway Shoes)
