DOTD: Green Pin Up

A few months ago, my hubby picked out a pair of shoes. The moment he saw them, he said… you have to have those. At first I was like… eh!! But the more I looked at them… the more I saw what they could do to my wardrobe… case in point… today’s outfit…

I’ve had this dress FOREVER!! and I’ve never worn it. Or if I did, it was only once… but with these shoes… this dress has now moved up the ranks in my closet…

These shoes are a conversation starter… I had this wonderful older woman tell me about her fabulous shoes of the 40s or 50s that my shoes reminded her of… I can only imagine… the shoes back then… SWOON!!!

Anyway… I got many compliments today… these pictures do nothing for the outfit… I’m not pleased with any of the shots… but I love these shoes… and they needed a spotlight in which to shine…

What do you think? Do you have something in your closet that you didn’t pick out but love? If so, what is it?

Outfit Breakdown:

Blazer: Mom’s closet

DOTD: Just relax

Today has been long. I had an outfit that I was going to wear to be cute… but the idea of getting dressed made me tired just thinking about it. So I decided somewhere along the day that I would just be comfortable. I added the stilettos for the pictures but earlier I was wearing flats. Going out with friends… so heels again. I have had a cold/flu for what feels like months and I am exhausted in ways I never thought I could be exhausted.

Highlight of my day: I had to go to my son’s school today and with no makeup on and my coat buttoned up… I got winked at by (what I hope was) a senior and asked where I was supposed to be by a teacher… nothing like that to make you feel young.

Low of my day: I am STILL sick!!!!

How are you today? What do you think of my comfort outfit? And if you’re thinking you recognize this dress… its because I bought it last spring after doing a dressing room post and this is my first time wearing it… lol
P.S. I am certain that this dress makes me look pregnant… but trust me… I am not!!

Outfit Breakdown:
Dress: Faith21 (before the name change)

Igigi Review: This dress needs a job!

Ever wear something that you realize no where you go will do this item justice? I don’t currently have a job and I was wondering where I would wear this dress in order to really do the review. Then I decided that going to Wal-Mart to buy groceries and toothpaste was going to have to do. I noticed many people looking at me. I have to admit, I was seriously overdressed. But that is what made it that much more fun. The dress was gifted to me courtesy of IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel and it is is super comfortable & I am madly in love with this dress.

Reasons I love this dress:

The color: I have so many purple items in my closet, I felt that a blue dress was desperately needed.

The fit: It hugs up top and skims my curves below. This enhances my figure 8 frame making my curves sexier (in my opinion)

The length: Perfect length. Period.

There is nothing I dislike about this dress. Absolutely nothing.

I decided to wear it with my floral tights, my navy/black Shoedazzle shoes, my green earrings & green frog ring, and my black silver necklaces. I really like how this turned out. Along with my makeup. I've been sick so this is my first day really dazzling myself up in days… and it seemed like everything aligned in the universe for this outfit to be a success…

What do you think? Have you purchased from IGIGI BY Yuliya Raquel lately? If so, what did you buy?

Friend Friday: Loving my body!!

sexy size age

I have been out of the blogger communication world for so long that I feel like I’ve lost touch with all my friends in the community. But this morning I moseyed on over to Fierce Beauty and Fashion a new blog I recently found and immediately fell in love with and she was doing something called Friend Friday. I’ve seen it around the blogosphere before but I feel that in recent days of me not doing much on my blog (except showing more pics of my ugly mug… seriously… I’m tired of my own dang on face)… I felt this was just the time to start letting people in a bit. By showing them a window into blogger that is ME!!

1. Since you started blogging has your image of yourself changed? Yes. I think previously my image of myself was that I looked fabulous everyday. But the wonderful thing about a camera is that is doesn’t lie. I look back over some of the outfits I wore thinking I was all kind of wonderful… they were… not. Now I try harder when I put my outfits together. Because I want my readers to see I care enough to look my best. Or to be creative enough to inspire others. So yes it has changed… I think now I’m less vain. Which would seem crazy as I take so many pictures of myself. But now I see flaws where before I thought I had none. I think I am a better person after my blog.

2. Are you self-conscious about any aspect of yourself? If so, do you go out of your way to avoid it or do you post it/talk about it anyway? I am no longer self conscious. I am putting myself on the world wide web for everyone to see. I do makeup tutorials that don’t always turn out well. And I do outfits that don’t always get “nice” comments. So I am not self conscious about anything that has to do with my body. But am self conscious of some of my outfits and how they will be received by my readers. I still don’t miss patterns because of fear. I also never discuss the fact that I wear a wig. There are parts of me I hold back because of how I feel people will react. But as time goes on… I think I will use my fear to help someone else you may be experiencing the same fear.

3. Based on how you are feeling now, what do you think the future holds in the evolution of your body image? I think that at some point… my blog and other bloggers like will not only improve my body image. But the body image of the masses and stop teen girls from starving themselves or eating their feelings. Will let everyone know they have the right and the ability to feel beautiful…

4. Do you photograph yourself for your blog? If so, how do you feel about the experience when you’re having your picture taken? I usually take my own pictures. If I don’t take my picture… then hubby is the one who does it. I think that when I or hubby take my picture the pictures are beautiful. I am, however, very critical of pictures taken by others. I always see every flaw… hubby says I’m crazy and I’m certain he’s right. But when hubby takes my picture… I feel the best. I think you can see it on my face. I feel sexiest when I know his eyes are behind the lens.

5. What would you want every person who struggles with body image to take to heart? Realize that no one is perfect. That anyone who is looking at you and telling you to change… is probably jealous that you have something that they don’t. We are never happy. And we have a way of coveting what others have or are. Just focus on being happy in the skin you’re in and you will be surprised how much difference that will make in your life. The person I am today is not the person I was 10 years ago. And I am glad because I can show my daughters how they can love themselves… no matter what number is on the inside of their jeans on the label.

I like this feature… If you want to jump on this bandwagon… sign up at Modly Chic. You will find out a lot about the blogger you follow and see on the web. Maybe you will find you have something more in common than you think Winking smile

DOTD: How many does it take?!!

I didn’t want to say the whole line in the title because I didn’t want each and every pervert on the net coming to my blog. But today I wore one of my favorite vintage t-shirts. It’s an Tootsie Roll tee and it says “How many licks does it take?” with the little boy and the owl. I love this tee… but I usually wear it with a blazer… same reason as above. Need not have perverts following me around Maryland because they think I want something I don’t.

Also, today was the first day of many that are supposed to be warm. So I decided that I would wear my fur trimmed booties just in case it remains “Spring”. So this outfit wasn’t all that special… but I felt cute and powerful. And isn’t that what matters most? lol

In order to post this post... I had to wait until hubby got home. All the pictures I tried to take myself made me look dark as night!!! Gotta love my hubby!!

What do you think? Do you have anything you want to wear before it gets too warm?

DOTD: If I owned the military

If I owned the military you know the uniform would be purple. And the shoes would be killer stilettos. So today I played with my own version of military style. I am wearing my military peep toe booties and my military jacket. I am also wearing my favorite and first dress from Lucie Lu that I wore to FFFWeek last year. I didn’t want the entire winter to go by and me not try this dress with tights.

Also, this is my first time wearing tights with peep-toe shoes. This was something I have been meaning to do but fear held me back… well… this year… I am embracing “No More Fear” principles. Also bought another jumper for spring since I’ve been so afraid to wear them. Spring is going to be fun. I also plan on wearing a swimsuit… I’m not afraid of swimwear… I’m afraid of water. Deathly afraid of going swimming after an incident when I was young. But this year… I’m going to overcome that fear…

What are your fears? Are you going to attempt to overcome them? What do you think of my remix of my dress?
