Brrrrrrr It's Cold In Here!: A Blazer/Jacket Post

One day soon I need to really give everyone an idea of just how many blazers, vests, and cardigans I have in my closet. I love them and I can see myself wearing them a thousand different ways, so when I find one for cheap… I buy it. I don’t need anymore… but it doesn’t stop me from wanting to pick out more Women’s Plus Size Jackets that tickle my fancy.

Here are the items I thought would extend my wardrobe to the next level of Diva… lol

DOTD: Loving My Reflection

I know I just slightly stole the name of my friend Courtney’s blog… but it was the perfect title for todays post. Since going natural I have days where I hate my hair and others where I love my hair. But since washing my hair yesterday and waking up this morning. I realized that this hair is the best thing for me. I love it. It’s my own natural curl and its wild and crazy and unpredictable… exactly like me.

I am still learning my hair but today I got dressed to have lunch with a friend and when I looked at my reflection… I just smiled. My friend saw me and immediately touched my hair and said “I love it”. Then I kept getting smiles from strangers… and normally I would say it was my makeup but today… I believe it was my hair. My curly hair that  moves with the wind and is tightly curled. My hair that I have fought all my life to enjoy and love and have always fallen short of feeling secure under. I would wear weaves and wigs and felt like people were looking at me and thinking “Look at this fake broad”. Now when people look at me… they see… ME. Not hair I purchased… but the hair I was born with. This is the final step of loving myself. I love my body. I love my face. I love my size. Hell… I even love my lone corn on my pinky toe (yes… I have one… shoes are cute but killer). But until this morning I don’t think my love for myself was complete. I am finally a 100% confident woman. Why? Because I know that when people see me they don’t see the stuff I use to hide pieces of myself… they see the real me.

Today’s outfit also was the perfect outfit for today… I couldn’t feel better

Indecent Top Exposure: A Top Post

I can honestly say that when I shop I gravitate towards dresses, blazer/cardigans, skirts, pants, and lastly… tops. Which is ridiculous because then I end up like I am currently with a closet full of clothing and like 4 tops. Its rather sad. I sometimes sit back and shake my head at my lopsided wardrobe. If I were to dress myself based on what I currently have… I’d get arrested for leaving my house in my bra… I’d be covered everywhere else… but I am seriously lacking good tops.

So now that I know I need tops I am in this place where I have to figure out what I want to fill my closet with. I don’t want boring pieces… I want pieces that I can wear multiple ways and dress up and dress down. So… I went onto the Bonmarche Plus Size Women Tops website to give you an idea of the types of items I want need…

Lace Tops…
Okay you can say what you want… but if I have 3 choices and one of them is lace… there is a 90% chance I’ll pick the lace top just because its lace. I have an addiction to lace and at this point in my life… there is nothing more I can do about it (I’m already taking pills and getting injections lol).

Lace Back Top

Tunic Tops…
When I’m running late and don’t want to have to think too hard, or when I am wearing leggings… I want a top that is long enough to cover up the lumpy parts…. lol but is also unique enough to stand ground on its own. The tunics I lean towards also need to hold its shape. So I could use a ton of tunics in my life.

 Sleeveless Tunic

Tops that no one has…
Lastly but not least… I love to own a top that I haven’t seen on others… because then it because a statement all on its own as everyone stops to ask where I got it. Those kind of pieces make hours searching for the right top… all worth while.

When you shop, what kind of tops do you gravitate towards? Would you purchase any of the tops above? If so, which one speaks the most to you? Have you stopped by Bonmarche to check out what they have to offer? Did I miss something you would have loved that I had mentioned?

DOTD: Feeling Like a 50s Siren

Today’s outfit came to me last night. I have this striped blazer and I was like oh, I can wear that with my jeans and a tank… but that is given. I wanted to wear it with something that was a little out of the norm. So then I got this idea that I could wear it with a green dress and make it a statement piece. So that is what I did. And I don’t regret this look, not one bit. Well almost..

This dress I bought about two summers ago from Marshall’s and never wore it. I remember trying it on and it fitting perfectly. Then last year I tried it on and it seemed to fit a bit tighter, so I put it away. And then I checked today and its huge. Taking these pictures were hard because I had to keep pulling up the dress to keep it from falling down and showing my bra. So I am a little upset that when I take this dress off tonight, I will be selling this dress. I got it for $20 and will sell it to the $15 because I only wore it once and it’s a nice quality dress. The size on the inside says 2X. I normally wear a 18/20 so I would say that someone who is top heavy and wears a 22/24 should have great luck with this dress.

I’m really sad that now I have to find a replacement green dress because now this one is no longer an option. *Insert Sad Face Here*

Anyway… on to the look… I also had considerable luck with my makeup today. I tried a new technique on the eyeshadow and I love how it turned out. It’s a green smokey eye look. The products are listed below. I also put on mix-matched earrings. I took one black & one white… I thought it was a cool idea…

What do you think about this outfit concept? Did I do it well? What would you change if this were your outfit?

DOTD: Effortless Color Blocking

I have not blogged in 2 days and I feel like I am losing my mind. I wanted to blog… but I was knee deep in my closet and finding items to sale. I’m still not done but I had to post something or really risk losing my mind.

I received this Effortless Colorblocked Dress from Monroe & Main last week and it would have been a great dress to wear on Easter but I had already planned the purple dress. So I decided to hold off. I tried the dress on and was happy I did because it felt so good against my skin. It has nice construction and well made. I have tried them in the past because my mom was a huge catalog shopper and liked their clothing for church. I am a born-again fan because this dress is nice… but most importantly… the sizing chart is SPOT ON!!!

So many times I shop for things based on the sizing chart and then when it shows up, it fits everywhere but on “the girls” and then I’m stuck trying to make it work with tanks and camis because it is so boobie-licious… I can’t leave my house without fear of a fallout accident. This dress has cleavage but not to the point of being too much. The automatic colorblocking of this dress means I can pretty much put any color accessories with this dress and make it awesome. I’m glad this is the dress they sent because it is typical girly-ness me.

I got this dress in a 2X. So figure if I had gotten a 3X it would have been bigger but not too baggy because of my girls. If you feel like I’m showing to much cleavage you should go up to the 3X. I’m comfortable with the 2X. I really think you should swing by Monroe & Main’s website and try out their Plus size fashions. It’s not just for older conservatives anymore… they have pieces that could work in any wardrobe.

My only wish for this dress is that I wish it were longer, because with my stilettos… I look like I’m all legs. Which I don’t mind, but sometimes you don’t want to feel like one strong breeze will show all your secrets lol.

Have you ever purchased from Monroe & Main? Swing by their page now and leave a comment below with something you’d like to wear… Also… what do you think of this dress?

DOTD: Happy Resurrection Sunday

This is the day that Christ rose from the dead. And therefore my life was made new… that has serious meaning to me today because today… I got Hubby to go to church. And he is reflecting on the possibility of Pastor Marital Counseling. And for that I know that today could be either the beginning of my life as a single mother of 3. Or the beginning of my NEW life with hubby getting the help he needs. Either way… my life will not be what it was… and for that I am blessed…

There will be fashion today… but I first wanted to show you my beautiful children today. I love how well behaved they were in church today and I realize that while going to church alone has helped me… there is much said for a child that spends quality time in church. After this weekend being spent mostly in church, my children now crave the next time they can go.

I feel blessed this Sunday… so very blessed and I know that no matter what my future brings… something good will come out of the trails and tribulations I have endured. If nothing else, it will show my children that you never give up… no matter what the circumstances.
