Lash Logic

Hola Divas…
So today I thought I would try something different and tell you about 2 things that happened to me in regards to my lashes recently…

I’ve always had short lashes, and I felt that my makeup looks would look better if I had longer lashes. So off I went to the the local spa and got lash extensions. Below you will see a picture of the “AFTER” affect.

Picture 413

And I couldn’t have been happier…. until… the removal. When I removed them I lost 90% of my lashes. I went from having “okay” lashes… to having barely anything for mascara to stick to. It was depressing. So because of that I stopped wearing makeup completely. It sounds silly but I think lashes bring an entire look together. And therefore, I felt why bother putting on makeup if the look was going to look “incomplete”.

So I’ve been using my usual mascaras which would include one from Sephora (a plumper volume lash mascara), Maybelline Falsies, and Loreal Power Volume. All of which I would mix and match and still I wasn’t getting the desired look. I knew my lashes were growing back… but just at a painstakingly low pace…. Then yesterday I read on AshleyGaGa’s blog (one of my fellow #blmgirls) that in order to  NOT cause lash damage with mascara that I should tr Maybelline Great Lash BIG (which only costs $4.44 at Wal-mart). Needless to say… I loved it so much… I was inspired to do a makeup look… I hope you enjoy… Have you ever tried lash extensions? If so, would you do it again? What mascara do you use daily? Do you think the lashes above would help the look below? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Back at it… AGAIN

Hola Divas…
So I know I’ve been gone for a long time. I know that in that time you have given up on me and you now believe that I am no longer a blogger… but… I’m BACK!!! And for good this time. Here is what happened…

I was swamped at work (love my job and I don’t mind that I was/am swamped) and because of that I didn’t have time to take pictures. I would get home so late that I was too exhausted or frumpled (combination of frumpy & rumpled) to take pictures. If I did get home at a decent hour I had to find a place to takes pictures so that I didn’t get too much attention by passersby. Here is what changed…

I MOVED INTO A HOUSE!!!! So now I can take pictures on my deck (or wherever) instead of stalking places to use to take pictures. And because hubby fell off a ladder (yeah… I know) and has a fracture in his foot (along with 2 screws after the surgery) he is home to take pictures for me. And before you ask, yes, he is feeling much better. He is in physical therapy and on the mend.

Boy if you knew what happened leading up to the house you would be like… WOW. Here’s a quick recap: Was robbed (someone broke the window of my SUV and stole my purse in the backseat), hubby’s truck was towed day after his surgery by my old apartment complex, and got into an accident with the rental truck on moving day. Anyway… all those things were sent to try to break me… but I was stronger then I thought. Now we are living here and I am the only one working right now so things are tight. But I couldn’t be happier. I am sooo much happier. Now… if I could only get unpacked… lol

Now that I am back to blogging… I will be back to reading blogs and commenting. I hope that you will come back and be a fan again. I’ve missed you all so much. If you have instagram please add me… I am @deepqueendiva  I do a “Daily Shoe Porn” where I give you insight to the shoes I’m wearing… and you know how I feel about shoes.

So don’t be surprised that the clothes may look familiar… but I am not shopping right now because… well… obvious reasons. So that leads us to the question of the day… Have you put yourself on a shopping diet lately? What was your reason for doing so? Has it made you be more creative with the the pieces you have? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

Monroe & Main Review & Giveaway

Monroe and Main is a campaign going on that helps women dress to deal with their problem areas. I know as a confident blogger I may get some flack for doing something to "Camouflage Mid-Section" but even I have days where I want to hide certain imperfections on my body. Which is why the Monroe & Main Fit For You Guide is so perfect. It helps women of different sizes and shapes find stylist clothing to help with their trouble areas. The four categories during the month of October are:

  • Hide Hips and Add Height
  • Short-Waisted
  • Camoflauge Mid-Section
  • De-Emphasize Bust

This week I am doing the Camouflage Mid-Section along with Hannah R. from http://www.anoldstoryblog.blogspot.com. If you go to the Monroe & Main website you will find that they help you find your fit...

After that... you can choose what you want to section speak to your body type and it will give you tips like you see below. It will also link you to fashion that is directly connected to the section you choose. Easy peezy... right. Wrong... once they link you to the fashion, be prepared to find it quite difficult to not want to buy everything you see.

So after I chose what I wanted to do to camouflage my midsection (you can't go wrong with a wrap dress).  I decided to wear it too different ways. I noticed the dress I choose would be great for spring/summer... but was fun & funky enough to also make the transition into fall. I also was gifted a blazer... but apparently it is still in a box somewhere as I recently moved. Here is what I did with the dress and necklace that Monroe and Main graciously provided...

First... I wore it with no tights with a patent pump. Easy and fun... I wore a tank under because it would have still have been for work. But you could have easily taken off the tank and made it a date night outfit.

While outside taking these pictures... I had the insight that it was too cool to wear no hosiery... so I revamped the outfit in fall fashion and had hubby take more pictures...

What I'm weraring:
Tank: forever21
noTights: Silkies
Patent pumps: Target
Gold studded booties: Lolashoetique
earrings: ?????

As you can probably tell... I felt more confident in the second round of shots... but all in all I love the dress and the blazer (sad face you will have to see it later)... But I will definitely be buying more pieces from them. This dress was so comfortable I didn't want to take it off...

If you haven't given Monroe & Main a try yet... now is a perfect time to do so... here is how you can connect with them...
