DOTD: Green With Guilt

Hola Divas…

Today I wore yet another great item from Kiyonna. This time it wasn’t so easy to find an item that I just had to have. Again I am on this “green” thing that I can’t explain. So I reached out to some co-workers and friends to decide which item I should choose. And we finally all agreed that if I didn’t pick the top pictured below, I was making a terrible mistake. Now that I’ve received it and worn it… I couldn’t agree more. This shirt made me feel super sexy and powerful all day.

Now the one thing no one ever mentions about being a blogger is what is involved in order to get THE pictures. You are willing to withstand heat, rain, and freezing temperatures in order to showcase the outfit. So today in our 20 degree weather, I stood outside like a nut while hubby took my pictures. It is amazing I don’t have pneumonia. But… as my photographer… I am super pleased with how these pictures came out, hubby did a fantastic job. Not to mention, I am also planning how I will wear this top on its next go round out of my closet.

So now before I go onto the fashion I want to talk about some personal stuff. Our company (who will continue to remain nameless) was recently purchased by another much larger company (who will also remain nameless). In the process of us “combining” some people were let go. Some people who I was friends with and actually enjoyed to be around. So far, my job has been spared… but the empath in me has me feeling guilty. I am tryng to shake that feeling, but it is hard. So much harder then I could have ever thought. Anyway, I guess I am asking anyone who is reading this to answer me this… Have you ever worked for a company during layoffs? Were you spared? If so, how did you handle it? Did you feel guilty or were you just happy that you still kept your job? Did you try to help your former coworkers find future work? Anyway… back to fashion… I just needed to get that off my chest so that I wouldn’t explode. I literally broke out in hives over the whole situation. Well… hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Pinky and the Brain

Hola Divas…

Today I re-wore a dress that I got from Gwynnie Bee that I just couldn’t bear to return. Mainly because the first time I wore it, I couldn’t find the blazer I wanted to wear it with. But now I see so many possibilities of how I can wear it. So I will probably wear it again. I’m glad I packed this dress for this trip… it was easy and fun to wear even though I am tired and stressed out. But life is about the fashion you wear during the “bleh” times. Okay that’s not 100% true, but sometimes I tell myself to get through the day.

So my brain is on fire. I worked on like a billion spreadsheets and looked at like a million pictures, and I now have a massive migraine. However, wearing my pink blazer made it all worth while. I also had the BEST pink lips today… made me feel a spreadsheet/picture rockstar. Lately there is so many things going on, that I have to celebrate the mini triumphs. Such as perfect lip liner and lashes. Or yesterday the gold smokey eye I did. It doesn’t take much to make me happy. Now that I don’t have to do hair in order to get ready in the morning, everything thing else is triumphant. As I continue to sit here and watch lame television and write my blog,  I realize that I am probably not making much sense. I feel like I’m talking giberish so this is where I will say buenas noches…

But before I leave I have a question… What color(s) make you feel like you can do anything? Or is there something in your closet or a makeup look you do that makes you feel like a rockstar or that you could conquer the world? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Color Me Happy

Hola Divas…
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

So I am writing this post from the comfort of my hotel room in Richmond Virginia. I am dealing with a lot at work and I am trying my best to not let all the negativity get to me. I am finding that some people will find the negative in anything. Which is why I’m making a late new year resolution about finding the positive in everything. I know it will be hard but negativity is like a cancer. It wears you down and kills your spirit. It is toxic and I don’t want it near my life any more. I know that may not be much of a resolution, but it is becoming apparent that if you see the positive in everything… sometimes… eventually everything is positive.
So what has everyone losing it at work. Well, the company I work for has been bought by a larger company. And I want to see the bright side of it, but everyone is killing my vibe with their negativity. I just want to focus on my job and do it to the best of my ability. I won’t spend my time speculating on the “what ifs”. I just want to make sure my checks keep coming, and my company keeps moving forward. That is my ONLY concern… the rest will work itself out. Anyway… onto the fashion…
The last time I wore this skirt, I wore it with with a pink top which I loved… but I really wanted to wear it with a yellow top. And since I don’t own a yellow top… I decided a yellow (mustard) scarf was the next best thing. I know this isn’t fancy, but I like how it turned out. My lastest package from Gwynnie Bee didn’t come in time for my trip, so I had to make what I already had work overtime. I love going on travel, however, I hate packing. I always forget something. This time it was deodorant and my hair oil for my edges. Bleh. Doesn’t matter… I bought some deodorant and I am happy. I really am… I woke up this morning in a glorious mood. And I have to admit… its the beginning of what great things… I am certain of it…  But before I leave you…  How often do you travel? Do you have a fail safe way to travel so you don’t forget anything? Does your fashionista still shine or do you pack the bare mininums? Welll… I’m glad I got the first post of the year out of the way… Hasta la proxima ~besitos~
P.S. I actually wore the wedges to work today and will wear the oxfords tomorrow with an alternate outfit

DOTD: Watch Out Der Now!!!

Hola Divas...
Are you shocked? 2 posts in less than a week. I am trying my best to just get back into this as my life itself is such a cluttered mess. As I indicated in the previous post, all this traveling is for the birds. Don't get me wrong, I love the work I do. Its just that its hard and difficult when you have so many balls in the air... and financially things are difficult with all the travel as well. But I figure that if I put in the time, I will be rewarded and eventually everything will come together. Positive thinking... that's all I have to count on lately... lol

So this outfit I wore yesterday. I meant to blog last night but as I was traveling... I was too tired once I reached the hotel. So here is the outfit I wore and the pics I took in the Doctor's office before I left. HAHAHA!!! I know... I will take a picture anywhere...

So I don't know if you noticed on the previous post, but I've been partaking in Gwynnie Bee. Its like Netflix for clothes and I can't get enough. I as I am on a eating better kick. And just trying to lose some of this weight. Gwynnie Bee has been awesome. It's a way to wear clothes in different sizes and to not completely kill my bank account. And if I REALLY like something, I can always purchase it. Hubby loves it because of course I'm shopping less... and I love it because I can try styles I normally wouldn't it without the obligation of keeping it. Have you tried Gwynnie Bee? How do you like about the idea of clothes on loan? Would you love a way to be trendy without buying something you will only wear once? Well as always... Thanks for reading... Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD(s): Hopefully the Last Like This One

Hola Divas...
I know I said I would blog more often and I mean to keep my promise. Now I am also going to stop with the bathroom pics. I hate them but it's all I had at the time. But my tripod is coming... and with that means picture independence. I hate asking my friends to take my pictures... especially at work. But that is where I spend ALL my time. And now that I travel a lot as well... there isn't always a way (or a place) to take pics.

So while I am on the subject of travel. Let me bring you into my life for a moment. I am a mom, wife, and a career woman. It is hard to maintain all those parts of my life and to do so fashionably. I am in Richmond VA for most of my travel because I manage 2 areas (MD/PA & VA/WV). I have the most awesome crew that any manager could want but its still very hard. So my son asked me if I would have a mother/son date with him, because he misses me. When I'm home, the hubs is super clingy because I was gone the week prior. The daughters want me to do hair and nails and plan outfits when I'm home. It seems that my travel is mainly to rest after the week home. Is that wrong?

I feel like I'm not balancing this well. And I don't have any other friends who travel this much. Or if they do, I don't see it on Facebook. So I lean to my readers. Do any of your have a hard time balancing family life and work? If so, have you found anything that makes it easier? I'll take any advice you are willing to offer because honestly... I'm exhausted. Well... back to the fashion...

So I will do a dump of all the outfits I've been wearing lately and tomorrow hopefully I will be taking my pics like a normal blogger. But before I go... since I've been out the loop so long... Is there anything in particular you would like to see me blog? Are there any trends your want to see me wear? Any topics you would like me to discuss? Comment below... Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD(s): When Life Gets In The Way...

Hola Divas...
I said that I would keep blogging and I am doing everything to keep my promise. Every night I put out an outfit and I tell myself that if this outfit is great I am going to take pictures and post this outfit. But then work happens... and if you work... you know how that goes. You can have all the best intentions in the world and then the day gets away from you and before you know it... you're home and the bra and shoes are off and there is not a hellz chance you're going to put them back on to take pictures.

So that is what is happening to my blog... LIFE!!! I just have to be stronger than the forces around me and continue the fight to blog. So I took pictures (yes its more horrible pictures from the bathroom) but I am going to breakdown what I'm wearing to hopefully make the experience more blog worthy. I guess we'll see how it goes over... Does life get in the way of things you enjoy? What do you do when that happens? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Back at it… AGAIN

Hola Divas…
So I know I’ve been gone for a long time. I know that in that time you have given up on me and you now believe that I am no longer a blogger… but… I’m BACK!!! And for good this time. Here is what happened…

I was swamped at work (love my job and I don’t mind that I was/am swamped) and because of that I didn’t have time to take pictures. I would get home so late that I was too exhausted or frumpled (combination of frumpy & rumpled) to take pictures. If I did get home at a decent hour I had to find a place to takes pictures so that I didn’t get too much attention by passersby. Here is what changed…

I MOVED INTO A HOUSE!!!! So now I can take pictures on my deck (or wherever) instead of stalking places to use to take pictures. And because hubby fell off a ladder (yeah… I know) and has a fracture in his foot (along with 2 screws after the surgery) he is home to take pictures for me. And before you ask, yes, he is feeling much better. He is in physical therapy and on the mend.

Boy if you knew what happened leading up to the house you would be like… WOW. Here’s a quick recap: Was robbed (someone broke the window of my SUV and stole my purse in the backseat), hubby’s truck was towed day after his surgery by my old apartment complex, and got into an accident with the rental truck on moving day. Anyway… all those things were sent to try to break me… but I was stronger then I thought. Now we are living here and I am the only one working right now so things are tight. But I couldn’t be happier. I am sooo much happier. Now… if I could only get unpacked… lol

Now that I am back to blogging… I will be back to reading blogs and commenting. I hope that you will come back and be a fan again. I’ve missed you all so much. If you have instagram please add me… I am @deepqueendiva  I do a “Daily Shoe Porn” where I give you insight to the shoes I’m wearing… and you know how I feel about shoes.

So don’t be surprised that the clothes may look familiar… but I am not shopping right now because… well… obvious reasons. So that leads us to the question of the day… Have you put yourself on a shopping diet lately? What was your reason for doing so? Has it made you be more creative with the the pieces you have? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Good Vision… but Blurred

Hola Divas…
I’ve been seeing outfits with orange maxi skirts for a while. And then I saw another last night while watching television with hubby and I told myself that I would definitely be doing this look today. I posted a pic of my “inspiration” on instragram. If you are on Instagram… follow me @deepqueendiva. I also do a post I call Daily Shoe Porn… where I post a pic of my shoes I’m wearing that day. But I digress…

So this was yet another outfit that spoke to me… I feel like I’m finally getting a bit of my fashion mojo back. Let’s hope I can keep this up… hahaha… the title is because these pictures are obviously not my hubby’s clearest work… lol.

So today before I left work I was told how awesome a job I am doing by my  boss and HR. I was told they wished they had hired 3 of me. I have to admit I still love my job and that makes all the difference in the world. What do you do for a living? And do you love what you do? Does loving/hating your job makes your days easier/harder? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: New Year… now what?

So it is a new year and I should be super stoked right? Well… I’m perplexed. And its not because I’m being a pessimist… its because I just wanted more. I realized that I am in my mid-thirties and I am no where near where I would like to be. I would like to be in a home. I would like to have a true career. And I would like to have a savings that could pay my bills if I lost my job for a year. But instead I get an apartment where my neighbors are constantly selling drugs out in front and then get an attitude if you don’t speak to them. Seriously? I don’t want to speak to you because you are doing illegal activity where my children walk out to go to school… so no… I’m not your biggest fan. As for my “career” I work a job where one moment they are nice the next minute… not so much. My boss quit and since leaving 2 weeks ago has already begun to lose weight… and I’ve gained weight since I started working here. I think it’s the stress and just generally the way people talk to me. I’m broke… my truck is sitting out front not moving until I can get the money together to get it fixed (hopefully this weekend).

All in all… I do know I am blessed… I still have my hubby who is trying his best not to jump off a bridge. I have my beautiful girls who both just celebrated birthdays. And I have my son who is doing his best to stay out of trouble (Thank you, Jesus!!).  So I said all this as a preamble to the fact that I swore I would blog more more even if it was life posts… and then… I didn’t blog a darn thing. And that is because I have been swamped and then when I get home I am so exhausted all I want to do is put head to pillow…Anyway… here is an Divalook Of The Day (DOTD) to give you some eye candy (yeah right… I look absolutely tanked in these pictures). Please ignore my face of exhaustion… lol

But enough about me… How are you? How is the “new year” treating you? Can you tell that the tights I’m wearing are floral print… lol? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~ **sidebar: Yes I do speak spanish… I hope to be able to record a spanish youtube video soon**
