DOTN: So Late, It’s Ridiculous

So this weekend I was invited to my coworkers sister’s birthday… Which coworker? Well work-wifey, of course!!! I worked Saturday morning and wasn’t sure if I would have the energy to attend, but I have to admit… I have a blast. There are some fuzzy points that I don’t recall, I remember getting into an argument with hubby about something from our past… but other than that… we had a blast. Even hubby is now madly in love with my work wife. And he was feeling a bit better so I think it was a necessary night out.

I have to be honest that I truly want to blog more, but lately I am working heavily on getting trained and most days what I’m wearing is not at all blog worthy. I know you want to see my not so fancy outfits but lately my outfits are like plain… ridiculous. And by ridiculous… I mean, boring.

I don’t want you to think that I just drop into my blog… post pics and disappear for another week or two. So I wanted to tell you something interesting that happened to me this week. The other night, I came home and this day was already not going according to plan because I had walked out the door earlier that day without my debit card. So I had driven home on what was minimal gas (praying the whole way that I did actually make it home). I pulled up in front of my house and called upstairs to hubby to bring down my debit card. As I waited for him, my car just shuts off. LMAO… my car literally ran out of gas sitting in front of my home. Hubby ran to get me some gas and it allowed me just enough to drive to a local gas station. Afterward, I went to dinner with the bestie that is going through chemo (again). This time she didn’t retain her hair and I can tell she hasn’t gotten comfortable with it quite yet (but that is a blog post for another day). So I give the waitress my card and I wait for her to return, but she tells me I have to come to the register. Well, imagine my surprise when a $29.10 meal was charged $290.10 on my card… most expensive tacos EVER!!! LMAO!!! So they gave me the difference in cash and my bestie couldn’t stop laughing. I have to admit… it was almost worth it to see her laugh like that. Then on the way of the parking lot, I backed into a brick wall. Which cracked her up even more. She said I had had my 3 things go wrong, so I was done… but it was quite a ridiculous night. But it was nice to not take myself so seriously… if that makes sense. So how are you? Have you had a day recently where it seems like nothing is going right? Do you let it get to you, or do you laugh to keep from crying? Below find what I wore to Silver’s (codename) birthday party… I took a picture of her and added it for good measure because I wore the ring she is wearing in the picture, but it was her birthday… and when she said she liked the ring… I gave it her… well… Hasta la proxima (until next time) ~besitos~

DOTN: 30th Birthday Date Night

Hola Divas…
Last night… Hubby and I went out to ring in his 30th birthday. I wanted him to not be in bed and watching Psych as he turned 30 years old. So we got dressed and went out. I don’t have any pictures of what he was wearing as he refused pictures as I did sort of kidnap him last night.

So we went to our normal local bar and there was some excitement. But first I have to admit that we argued before we went out because he kept saying things that made no sense to me. Now as you may recall (if you’ve been following my blog that long) that hubby and I weren’t doing so well in March of this year around my birthday. All our troubles came crashing together in a huge impact that caused our separation. Now I’m a huge birthday nut… and I believe that all birthdays should be celebrated and enjoyed. But my husband does not have the same philosophy as his birthdays bring up deep rooted issues from his past in his country. He’s working on doing better… but it takes time. Anyway… I asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate his birthday and he said that considering how he “failed” on my birthday… he understands if I want to “pay him back” and give him a crappy birthday. I can honestly tell you I was dumbfounded because… where dey do dat at? That whole statement makes no sense. Tit for tat birthday payback? That would only make sense to a man…

So that why I kidnapped him. I felt it was necessary. And while he was there he was still in a grumpy mood… until something happened… A guy fell down the steps and split his head open. I mean there was a huge puddle of blood. And he was unconscious and unresponsive. In that instance… hubby put his arm around my waist and held my hand. Because you realize that everything could change in an instant. End result is that the paramedics were able to get him awake and up on his feet and into the ambulance. Hubby and I hung around for a bit longer and danced while we appreciated our love and health. Then we headed home just before the club closed. So on the drive home we decided to take the long way home which includes a drive through Baltimore City and Power Plant Live (which is this area with like a mixture of different clubs and bars so it’s like a melting pot of entertainment). Well… if you were on twitter you saw my tweet that said I had saw a woman wearing a thong leotard with fishnets underneath. She was wearing it with flats… so it already was a miss… but what killed me was that I was DYING in thick tights and she was strolling down Lombard Street like it wasn’t 30 degrees outside. Not to mention that she was the largest female in her group (about a size 14/16) and her friends were significantly more dressed then she. I just felt like my eyes should not have been seeing all of that… but to each their own. Fashion is individual…

After that we came home and cuddled and I fell asleep without even touching my phone (which says a lot)…. Anyway… I really wanted him to remember the night of his 30th and recall that I had gone to great lengths to look nice. I got this skirt from Forever21+ a few weeks ago and I love how it holds everything in… AMAZINGLY killer skirt. I also changed the hair again… I think this one… is a keeper… What do you think of the Divalook Of The Night (DOTN)? What do you think of the new hairdo? Did you notice that I couldn’t leave without a pop of color? What did you wear this weekend that was your favorite look?

DOTN: Crazy as a fruit bat

I am writing this after coming home from a much needed night out. It was on the dime of a friend of mine but the best part was that I got an ego boost that I so desperately needed. When you are going through the end of a relationship you do doubt your ability to attract the opposite sex. And I was no different... until tonight.

So… first when getting to the bar/club there were only a few people there and they had the heat set on Haiti. It was bananas hot in there. When they finally realized they were baking people like turkeys and fixed the temp the night really started to take off. I find in Latin bars that the men are always excited to find out that I speak Spanish and then want to kick up a conversation. So I met some really cool men tonight but with no desire to see them again… because let’s be real… no good relationship is going to start there. So I had a man completely pour his beer on me and then as way of an apology he bought me a rose. and another drink. You could tell he felt awful… and I didn’t make a big deal about it (come to find out it was like a drink spilling epidemic tonight). So later I started talking to another guy and he was nice and while trying to talk to me, he knocked over my drink. All over my red velvet booties (I checked and they appear fine… I’ll know for sure in the morning). He bought me another drink and the night continued on fine with me dancing and enjoying myself at will.

Then just the last 45 minutes before leaving, all the SHYTE hit the fan… this dude… this crazy effin dude goes to the bathroom. While he is in the bathroom, some dude asks his girl to dance. He comes back and flips out and snaps her phone in half and starts screaming obscenities at her on the dance floor. I guess the guy she was dancing with felt bad, so he bought her a rose also. They stayed on the dance floor while crazy dude went ape shit bananas waiting for her to return. When she returned, she sat next to me and tried to avoid the eye of crazy dude but asked the bartender for her phone (not knowing that nutjob had the fragmented pieces in his pocket). Just when I thought it was going to be okay, he walks over to her, puts his arm around her shoulder and whispers something in her ear. She says something back in return… his reply… WAIT FOR IT… was to POUR HIS ENTIRE BEER OVER HER HEAD!!!!! That’s right…. me and the gentleman I was talking to, got beer splattered as this jackass decided to douse his girlfriend in BEER!!! It took the holy hold of Jesus to keep me from punching this douchebag in the FACE!!! Me being the potstirrer I am, I went to security to let them know this dude was clearly off his meds and needed to be kicked the hell out. Best part… he knows the owner… so he got a pass. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! He gets to be the exact example of how NOT to act in a bar/club… and he gets to stay. I wish I knew what he was driving he would have come out to 4 flat & completely shredded tires. Best part is that the guy I was talking to bought this beer drenched lady and her female friend a beer and told them to be careful getting home and he walked me to my car. I wished I had a domestic abuse card in my purse I would have given her one. He was clearly a step away from beating that woman in public. So so sad….

So that was my night out… it was great and eventful and fun and crazy and empowering all at the same time… When was the last time you went out and let your hair down? Have you ever experienced anything like the above?

Now onto the the fashion!!!!

DOTD: Salsa Birthday Bash

On Saturday night I had my birthday bash. I love to Salsa (Bachata & Merengue) and I don’t get out much anymore… so of course I wanted my birthday to include an opportunity to do this again. So I invited all my friends to come out and learn to dance or to celebrate and have a blast. It was so much fun. My camera was having issues so I did get a shot of my outfit… and some shots of the night… but there were a lot of shots that were scraped because they were blobs of blurry-ness… *shrugs* still it was the best time!!! Wish you could have been there

My weekend in fashion…

I had a birthday party to attend and I also had to run errands this weekend. I totally intended to post this yesterday but the thought of touching my laptop actually made me “quiver” *Kim Kozak voice* lol…

I still am too exhausted to really want to do a lot of typing but I will give you the background for both outfits. One is my Saturday run around outfit… Its my first SWAK signature cardigan look. I have it in other colors and plan to try other looks and wraps. I love it… its so soft and the wrap is super long and I can wrap myself TWICE… that is awesome… I teamed it with my Forever21+ leggings. So many people seem to either hate or be afraid of their leggings because of the quality issues they’ve had in the past. But I found with these leggings… for $6.50. If they rip (which none of them have) then I won’t die. I can just go buy some more. I also did the socks and booties look and I expect not everyone will love this.

So then later that night I got to wear my one shoulder dress to my good friend Kejauana’s birthday party. It was a purple & black party. So I wore purple and hubby wore black.  I decided to pair that with my glitter shoes, body glitter, and silver accessories. I know I have a pooch in the photos. I actually have on shapewear but I was super bloated that day… so… no way to get past it… I’ll survive. Still love love love this dress.

DOTN: Flash of Fuschia

I wore this outfit to go out with friends last night. I am “financially impaired” but free entry and free drinks (I know people) helps make the night out worth the gas I used. I also needed to feel pretty. I don’t know why… I had a pretty good week (fashionably and otherwise) but somehow I still felt the need to be FIERCE. Do you ever have days like that? Where nothing is particularly wrong but you still feel the need to feel fabulous like you feel an impending depression or something?

Any way… this outfit worked because as soon as I walked in a table of guys said “AY bonita Mamita” which loosely translates into hey there pretty lady. So I danced until I sweated out my brain matter. Then I drove home feeling awfully sleepy… no clue why… (insert old joke here)

Earlier in the day I wore my OTK gray boots from Torrid, a black tank, jeggings, and a black/gray cardigan. It wasn’t my diva outfit at least not in my opinion. But I got a few compliments, and a complete stranger was waving me down on the street. Sometimes its those completely effortless outfits that make people notice you more so than the ones you plan days and weeks in advance. What did you wear this weekend?

Outfit Breakdown:
Tunic/Tank combo: Size Appeal (exact item here)
Gray mini: Faith21 (Forever21+)
Tights: Silkies

DOTN: Hallows Eve Party Girl

I’m not going out to a Halloween party… I’m just going Latin dancing and it is the first opportunity I’ve had to wear my slash side leggings. Also, I don’t usually wear shirts that hug my stomach but after seeing that I am the only blogger living in that ridiculous fear, I decided to have fun with it.

Also, this is my first time wearing anything from Size Appeal. I love this top. Its super comfortable and soft and I feel pretty in this color. If I had an opportunity I would get this top in the other colors so that I could make multiple outfits from this versatile top. What do you think?
