It has been many months since my last Diva Spotlight post. I mentioned on my Facebook Fan Page and on Twitter that I love the the opportunity to shine the spotlight on someone who is NOT me. I want to give my readers an opportunity to feel like the center of my universe for ATLEAST one day (but knowing that due to how infrequently I blog… you may be the center of attention for longer than a day… lol). So imagine my surprise when my coworker said she would love to be a Diva for the day…

I have to admit that this Diva Spotlight I am super excited about… When I thought about giving up and giving in this blogger supported me and commented and made blogging worth putting forth an effort for… When you have people who are that kind for no reason… it makes you happy to do something for them. I want to promote her as a Diva and I want to promote her as a blogger (she doesn’t do outfit posts often but she does bring you into her world with ease and flair)… So please please please show her some love as I shine the light on…

In her own words: I love this outfit, it's not fancy or even special, but I love it because since Fall has hit it's typical of what I would wear most days. I went years without wearing jeans much because I just couldn't find anything that fit comfortably and looked nice. This year I have a few great pairs and these are one of my favorites! They are very comfortable and I love the way they show my curves! I feel "thin" and sexy in them. The top is a tube top but I wear summer tops year round with layers on top when its colder out, and it's not rare for me to be shedding down to the summer top even when it's -20 C out because I'm having a hot flash LOL! As a stay at home homeschooling Mom I only get out of the house 2 or 3 days a week, so I like to dress nice when I do get to go out. This outfit is definitely one of the more casual looks for me, but I love it because it's just so comfortable(yes, I know I already said that...but it really is!) and I feel so good in it, how could I not love it!

Here I am in one of my latest designs, you guessed it, a leopard dress. I love leopard-print in every variation, it is a staple in my wardrobe, and I always feel very va va voooom when I work my curves in a leopard creation. And having a sense of humour about how I dress helps LOL. I accented the dress with contrasting white, I love the ruffles, and I don`t care about rules of dressing that probably dictate not wearing ruffles on the girls. Ruffle that, honey! Also, I recently cut my hair after wearing it long for most of my life, I had one of those I might be fat but I can still pull off any hairstyle I want to-moments. Off came 40 cm locks and up went my self esteem. :)

In her own words: I chose to spotlight this outfit because it is a simple recipe for individual style and DIY that is comfortable to wear while looking put-together.  The top was originally a cowl neck I just cut the neck out of and made a new seam for.  The skirt was made out of some fabric a friend donated to me, and what's more comfortable than leggings?  Ten dollar flats from Payless and Napoleon earrings bought from an Etsy shop for less than five bucks.  With a little elbow grease and finding shops on Etsy that appeal to your unique personality, plain pieces like black flats, black leggings and a black top can look anything but ordinary.

I have to give you back information on this particular spotlight… I met this fashionable diva because of her Facebook profile picture. I thought her dress was amazing so I friended her… Her reply was… I’m sorry… do I know you. After I told her why I wanted to be her friend we laughed about it and we converse when our busy schedules allow for it. She told me she was going on vacay and I told her I wanted pictures of her in vacation attire so I could spotlight her… The picture below is our favorite…

Diva Spotlight: Wedding Day Divas!!!

As you know from my previous post... I attended a wedding... so I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the fabulous plus size diva's in attendance...

The main and most plus sized diva of the night was the bride... Doesn't she look spectacular? Her name is Isis and she just looked amazing!!

Next up is the one of her bridesmaids who is also a dear friend of mine... Kadiatu... isn't she gorgeous here with her hubby?

Now below is my friends Oly (who I dressed for the wedding) and my friend Tonya. I loved how everytime I pulled up my camera that Tonya like instantly posed... I don't have one single bad shot of that girl... FABULOUS

 Now a moment to focus on my "client", Oly... I have to tell this story. During our quest for the perfect dress she kept telling me what would and would not look good on her. I tried to explain to her how that curve hugging dress would make her look fuller on top and would hide her problem areas... she wanted to hear none of that... so we went on the hunt for a "safe" dress. While she was in the dressing room and I was off pulling my hair out and looking for a "safe" dress that would adhere to her RULES... she goes to the return rack and sees this champagne colored dress (a color I had told her previously would accent her fabulous burgundy Jimmy Choos). She said... she pulled it off the rack so that when I returned she could show me just how bad she would look in something that hugs the curves. When I returned I heard her wimper "Yolanda"... I panicked... thinking omg... what's wrong. Nothing was wrong... she just couldn't believe how sexy and  beautiful she felt in the dress. So she "technically" found her dress... but using the rules I told her but only because she wanted to prove to me how wrong I was... hmmmm do you hear that... that is the universe confirming I know what I'm talking about... doesn't she look great?!! Don't doubt my fashion abilities... its my superpower!!

Diva Spotlight: Diva Tootsicle

Since I started doing this feature, it always surprises me the creativity and just sheer pose these divas portray. Today's Diva is no different, as she has been a friend of mine for years. We met via the LJ Fatshionista community, and I love her to pieces. She is so creative and has no fear about what she wears. That in itself makes her a true Diva. To me, she takes more risks than Beth Ditto, but she isn't in a huge band so she does not get as much exposure. That is why I love the "Diva Spotlight", it gives everyone the opportunity to highlight whatever outfit they wish. Again, you can be spotlighted as many times as you like, just send me the pics and the info...

This is one of my favorite outfits lately. The entire palette is pastel, which I don't always do. Usually there is some dark element in an outfit (most often just because my shoe choices are limited) but here, the entire thing nudges soft and inviting. The bat wing style jacket is a thin light fabric, so it has a tendency to float around - sometimes exposing some of the crochet sleeve of the dress. The braided white upper of the wedge mimics the sleeves intricate, fussy detail too. I tend to over-accessorize at times and I've found a big , interesting cocktail ring adds the necessary pretties I want when picking jewelry. In my outfits I love detail, sometimes more than the overall silhouette which is the case with this choice.

This outfit is a favorite because the shoes are comfortable, the fabric patterns & weight are cheery and feminine, I feel that I still look put together even if I ditch the jacket -- and of course, I like to show my legs.

Doing this post is super exciting as I love this girl. She is the super fun and awesome and I think her personality has the ability of coming through in her pictures. When I saw this picture, I knew she had to do a Diva Spotlight... okay... that is all... you have to check her blog cause she is that awesome...

Stiletto Siren of Lips, Hips & FATshion Tips With Stiletto Siren

I really believe that we come across special pieces of clothing in our lifetimes that really represent us as we truly are. These pieces change just as we do as we grow older but even when they lose their luster they still touch our hearts. I remember a pink pair of Osh Kosh B'gosh Overalls that I had when I was little that were my first piece like that, then when I was about 9 years old it was this ridiculous 90210 Sweatshirt with Dylan on it, I wore that thing everywhere and though I was one bad bish lol, then it was this totally trampy red tube top that my father hated and I refused to wear a bra with for shame, and so on and so on. Now the piece that I own that I feel represents my personal style best, speaks to my heart and makes me feel like my best dressed diva is this great tie dye bubble hem dress from Torrid.


I picked this dress up a little over a year ago and actually paid full price for it, which is something I don't normally do. I was in love with it instantly and I will sport this dress year round either with bare legs and arms and a ton of clevage in the summer months or with leggings and cardi and some kick ass boots in the winter. No matter what this dress and its great silky material and fun tie dye pattern makes me feel lush, a bit hippie chic and a bit edgy. In these pics I paired this dress with my raspberry cardi also from Torrid, my black body silk cami from NY & CO and my black canvas wedges from Payless.

Diva Spotlight: DOTFS Diva Tai

So I know I've been lacking this past week but I have been dealing with my emotions but I am finally getting back to my old self. But I had to post this post now. On the day of the Fashion show... my sister-in-law was looking divalicious and I told her she is going to be spotlighted on this blog.
