DOTD: New Start, New Yoli

So the straight hair lasted one night. I appreciate all the love and everything… but I didn’t like it. I felt like I had stepped into a time machine and went back to my high school hair. But as I step into a new part of my life… I needed no nonsense hair. I needed some hair that I could do in little time and little effort but could still feel diva. Because as I venture into this “separated” phase of my life… I need hair that isn’t going to take a lot of “work” as I will soon be a single mother of 3 children. Yes… hubby and I are no more. He turned into someone I couldn’t trust or believe in… and after that… I knew I could either take it… or show him the door. This was a difficult decision to make. I love him. I still love him very much. But I had to show him that when he puts our family life in jeopardy… he can’t stay. It’s not cheating… its just taking a lot of risks that could cause us to lose everything… when we barely have much to begin with… I made this choice for my children. We may reconcile… I am leaving a small door open for that… but some SERIOUS changes must be made before that is even a possibility. I believe professional help is needed.

So this is the new Yoli… will it change my blog. Ummmm no! I still love makeup, fashion, and shoes. I just won’t be rocking the wig. If natural hair is not your thing… I hope that you would stay around for the fashion… because that will NOT change… well… it will but only for the better *winks*

DOTD: Burgundy & Coral

I saw the shoes, bought the shoes, & then it occurred to me… what in the hizzell would I wear with them. So then I’m perusing the Forever21+ website and saw this top… and then the shoes made sense in my world. So… this outfit has been sitting in my closet to be worn for weeks… but everyday I woke up to 30 degree weather. And everyday this outfit just sat. So today… we’ve got 73 degree weather… this outfit had to happen… oh yeah… pure happiness over here. Would have never have thought to put burgundy and coral together… now I can’t’ wait to try it again… but with different pieces…

Also, I am wearing sunglasses in most the pics… because with beautiful weather comes allergy eyes… They don’t show up as much on the pictures. But they are puffy.

So what are you wearing this Monday? What colors are making you happy today? What do you think of my Monday look?

DOTD: Just relax

Today has been long. I had an outfit that I was going to wear to be cute… but the idea of getting dressed made me tired just thinking about it. So I decided somewhere along the day that I would just be comfortable. I added the stilettos for the pictures but earlier I was wearing flats. Going out with friends… so heels again. I have had a cold/flu for what feels like months and I am exhausted in ways I never thought I could be exhausted.

Highlight of my day: I had to go to my son’s school today and with no makeup on and my coat buttoned up… I got winked at by (what I hope was) a senior and asked where I was supposed to be by a teacher… nothing like that to make you feel young.

Low of my day: I am STILL sick!!!!

How are you today? What do you think of my comfort outfit? And if you’re thinking you recognize this dress… its because I bought it last spring after doing a dressing room post and this is my first time wearing it… lol
P.S. I am certain that this dress makes me look pregnant… but trust me… I am not!!

DOTD: Imitation = Flattery

So I found an OOTD post on youtube the other day and I really liked the look, so I reproduced it with my own pieces. I hope the person with this video knows that I really liked it and only duplicated it because I really liked the pieces she pulled together. Here is the video:

The best part about her outfit and mine is the pockets... I really really love the pockets.

I mean seriously, You've only maybe seen me in capri leggings (I think) but these are my only pair of capris besides my romper. Did I mention how much I love them. I wanted to review them. But all I can say is... Love them, stretchy, and AMAZING...

DOTD: Ghost

Now I'm gone in your photograph
I bet you wish you could get me back
Now I'm stuck in your memory
A mistaken identity
~part of lyrics from "Ghost" by Fefe Dobson

I love the music of Fefe Dobson. And her new song is no different. So since I pulled a disappearing act (as far as outfits are concerned) I felt that his song was perfect. I feel like I am a ghost in my own blog. I can't seem to find my... place... so from that I have writer's block. I hope you bear with me as I get my mojo back. I feel it coming back as we speak. Today's outfit was so comfortable because its still hot at home but it had that gray & black stipes with my pop of purple. Did purple eyes and purple earrings.... I really like the finished look...

Outfit Breakdown:
Vest: Faith21
Tank: Wal-Mart
Black & Grey Striped Skirt: New York & Company
Shoes: Old Navy
Earrings: Beauty Supply

What do you think of this outfit?!!

Faith 21 review: Playing Dressing Room Barbie Doll

So I went to Forever21 in Towson Town Center, that is where the best Faith21 location is located in Maryland. I know there are others but this one is the cleanest I've seen and has the largest selection of clothing. I have been waiting a while to complete this Dressing Room review. I've said I would do it and then would lose my nerve. Then this past Saturday while out shopping with a friend, I decided now was as good a time as any.

Warning: Picture Heavy!!!!

Here is how I began my day:
Dress: Marshall's
Tank: Newport News
Flip Flops: Payless
Earrings: Beauty Supply

First I tried on this hot pink dress... It was great and an almost purchase, but I notices that possibly a few people have tried this on and and caused it to pucker and rip on the back. It would have been a great addition to nmy closet family had it been better made *sigh*

The next 2 items were great but after a day of trying on items I decided the skirt wasn't what I wanted... but now looking at the pictures... I wish I had gotten it... my friend gifted me the shirt...

Then I tried on this vest... (my tank & skirt from previous pics)... bought this of course (and a twin with a black & white pattern)

This dress... I loved how it felt on my skin... its super stretchy and comfortable... but I couldn't get past how I looked in it in the mirror... the reflection is the only thing that kept me out of this purchase.

Here are two items I tried on, didn't like how they looked but completely forgot to photograph them on my body...

Now the piece the moment i saw it on the hanger and had to have (thanks to my buddy)... yes... its perfect in every way...

btw... did you notice my gorgeous coach bag peaking at you in my pics... love that bag!!!

DOTD: Hostage Is a Crucifying Aloneness

Today I did not leave my house at all. But I realize that I have been lacking on the outfit posts lately and I need to get it together. What's funny is that I have been getting dressed, only I forget to take photos. So today I made an effort...
Stiletto Siren told me to wear orange, so I decided to mix two not commonly seen colors. Orange & fuschia. Maybe the colors are together often, but I don't see them together nearly enough. In my previous post is the youtube video of my makeup.

Outfit Breakdown:
Tank: Old Navy
Tee: Dots
Jeggings: Faith21
Shoes: Dollhouse (Journeys)
Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory
(Sexy) Earrings: Beauty Supply Store

(For makeup breakdown, see post below)

DOTD: Lacey Review

In my previous post, you saw a sneak peek of an entirely new outfit that I wore pre/post Fashion Show. The pieces were comfortable but trendy enough to cause even some older fans to pull me aside and question me about my taste. This is my first review so please bear with me as try to describe how the items in detail.

First, I have on a tank from Faith21. Its soft cotton and it feels great against the skin. The lace trim makes it really fun and funky and versatile. It’s long but not long enough to wear with my all lace leggings but it worked well with my lace panel leggings. I feel that it would be a great wear to have use on a day when all I want is a pair of jeans and a tank, but I still want to look nice. Also, I feel like a lace blazer would really take this up a notch.

The leggings I am sporting were provided from the great folks at Yours Clothing. I wanted to try their jeggings for a while and I wore a pair recently in another post. I was equally excited to try their leggings and was not disappointed. They are really soft and they have a high enough waist so that they stay in place (which is important for me as I have the “mommy” pooch). The lace panel makes them more fun and rebellious and I got many people asking me where I purchased them and I was happy to send more business their way. I am really starting to look at Yours Clothing as having the best selection of plus size leggings. If you want to add to your collection something more than the basic leggings, I would check their website.

The lace shoes are amazing, I wasn’t intending to purchase them but every time I passed them in the store, I could actually hear them saying my name. They are super comfortable, and maybe after wearing them one night, I wish I had gotten them in a size 10 as opposed to the 11, but it doesn’t change the love I have for them. I’ll probably purchase some no slip discs for the shoes and wish for the best. As for where they were purchased… my usual spot… Off Broadway Shoes (of Arundel Mills) and the designer is Kate Preston.

All in all I picked the best outfit to be comfortable while wearing something that would be easy to get in and out of without much trouble. I also liked how it was comfortable but great and chic at the same time.

Outfit Breakdown:
Lace Tank: Faith21
Lace Panel Leggings: Yours Clothing
Lace Stilettos: Kate Preston (Off Broadway Shoes)
