DOTD: Connect The Dots

Hola Divas...
I know I've failed miserably at being a blogger but as I've indicated on multiple occasions... life happens. So since the last time I was here, I've changed jobs yet again. The small company I worked for was bought out by a larger company and the changes were earth shattering. The people I had created relationships with and had in turn inducted into my "work" family were layed off and after the dust cleared I tried to remain positive. There were people who were negative even though they still had a job... and there were people who still wanted to consider it us against them. But if you know me... you know I just like to go with the flow. I don't like drama if I can completely avoid it. So I embraced the new co-workers which in turn made me some enemies... but again... I didn't let it phase me.
So after it all, I am now working in a new department and excited about what the future holds. My best friend did not make it through all the changes and that was the only thing that almost made me lose my composure. I am sitting at his going away dinner as I write this post. This allows me the distraction to not cry or lose my composure. I'm hoping that I will be amble to connect the dots after all is said and done. So onto the fashion... this is yet another dress I got from Gwynnie Bee and these amazing Shoedazzle pumps. Have you ever experienced your company being bought by another company? What was the outcome for you and your friends? Was it the same after the dust settled? Hasta la próxima ~besitos~

I'm not dead... but my fashion may be dying

Hola Divas...
So I haven't been blogging... I know... but I couldn't seem to get enough energy to photo myself before or after work. I have the best intentions... but yet... nothing. But if you follow me on Instagram... You know I do take photos of my shoes and occasionally my outfits.... thought I would share some of my favorites here...
I promise to do better in 2013 Happy New Year ~besitos~

DOTD: Don’t Poke the Bear… oh & a review

Hola Divas…
Okay… usually when I say that… I mean… get the hellz away from me before I rip your head off. But today that title is for dear old hubby… he is in a mood. He can’t seem to stop being soooo grumpy. I have just decided that I will leave him alone tonight and focus on my own happiness. Today was a pretty good day and I’m in a pretty good mood. And today I wore one of my favorite colors… Coral is AMAZING!!!

So I have to say I received an email from Penningtons and they wanted to send me a fun surprise from their new lookbook. And I didn’t know what to expect them to send… but WHOA!!!! What are they chances I would get a CORAL Trench Coat?! I don’t think I have been this excited to wear anything in a long time. So I of course, had to wear it the same week I received it in the mail… hehe!!! It’s $130 and I don’t own a Trench… but I have to say that it is totally 1000% worth the cost. I can’t wait to wear it in the sunlight (but of course I get home too late to take day pictures). I love the way it hangs… and I the color is bright and AMAZING… and the fit is perfection. Okay so this is not a review as it is a reason for you to buy one… seriously… if you want we can even wear them on the same day like TWINZIES!!! Okay… maybe that is a bit much (but it we could do a coral trench blogger challenge… oooh the possibilities)…

Anyway… I’m going to hit the sack before hubby gets any angrier… and before you ask… yes… I will kiss him goodnight regardless of his stinky mood… cause I’m just that type of wife… lol… Ever have a day when your significant other was angry and you couldn’t seem to fix it? Do you have any advice? What would you do? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Not Dead or Dying

Hola Divas…
I disappeared… I know. I disappeared off twitter and my blog. Why? I was killer swamped and to be honest… I didn’t like any of my clothes. I’ve put on so much weight and nothing fits. So I was allowing it to affect who I was… and then something happened the other day… I got over myself. I stopped hating my extra poundage, and I stopped hating my hair (that is another issue within itself… but I digress). I decided that if I was going to be a TRUE blogger… I would find a way to love my hair and my body and bring my readers along for the ride. And then yesterday… this outfit came to me. And then I knew I had tapped into a bit of the old me.

Soooo…. here I am… wearing my favorite color and rocking a new way to showcase my natural hair. I have to admit… I really like it… and this is what being a FATshionista is all about… it’s about finding a way to… “Make it work” (in the famous words of Tim Gunn). I hope you like this… I hope not to disappear any more… but if I do it will be work related… not because I don’t love myself. I also am trying to find new places/ways to take pictures… because the hallway is so dark. I can’t wait until I can do outside pics again… daylight can’t come fast enough.

I hope this post finds you well… Have you had any body issues this winter? Are you finding ways around it? Do you like my natural updo? Are you wearing natural hair? How have you dealt with those “in between moments”? I can’t wait to convo with you… Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

P.S. I’ve officially been blogging for 2 years (totally missed my anniversary)

2012 Blog Declaration

It’s 2012 and with a new year comes new thoughts on what you expect of the year and where you want to see yourself at the end of that year. First let me begin by saying that I do believe that we will live to see 2013 because I am not one to believe in the 12/21/12 end of the world thing. Not saying you can’t believe it (because my hubby believes and he mentions it everyday)… just saying I don’t.  Anyway… back to my point. As last year was a rollercoaster ride of bad decisions and just horrible crying spells I want this year to be the year of laughter and just living life. So this blog is going to change a bit. It will still contain my usual outfits only it may not contain as many as you are accustomed. I want to make this a LIFEstyle blog with emphasis on the LIFE part. I want to include more pictures of my children and my hubby. I want you to see that my life is not only outfits and shoes. I want you to get to know… ME.

This was a hard decision to make because I know that if you have been with me since day one that you may not like the changes I plan on implementing but I have to be true to myself and I am much more than fashion. I am more than makeup. And I am more than shoes. I am a mother, an avid reader, a tech enthusiast, a wife, and a friend. I want you to know what books I’m currently reading and enjoying. I want you to know what happened during my day. I want you to know what means the most to me and what makes me…. well… ME. Now I won’t give you everything… I won’t overwhelm you with my hectic crazy life… but I will let you see that I am a 3 dimensional person who does not just play a fashionable character on my blog. With that said… I hope you will come along for the ride.

Another decision I have made is this… the wigs are gone. I may “occasionally” wear them for fashion flair… but as for everyday… I want my daughter to know and see that I love my hair and that she should too. She made a statement recently that cut me to the bone about how she “HATES” her hair curly because it’s ugly. And that hurt me. I love letting her get her hair straightened…  but I don’t want her to think that her curly locks are not her own. So I will rock my hair and the occasional protective style… but will try to avoid weaves and wigs going forward.  To start the year off… here is a picture of me today at work with my glasses on and my hair curled out…

Now in case you’re wondering… yes… I will continue to do Diva Spotlights, “Lo Quiero Ahora” wishlist posts, ShoeDay Saturday posts and I will continue to shout out Diva Bloggers I find along the way. But I won’t let it takeover my life and my family… I want to find the happy medium of blogging and living because you can’t live life behind a laptop.  Well… that is my 2012 declaration and I hope I won’t lose you as a reader/follower/friend… Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DivaLook: Big Hair is Beautiful

I fell in love with big natural hair. And the more big beautiful natural hair I see online… the more I want it NOW… and of course my hair is growing at a snails pace. So I followed the advice of a few friends and went on the hunt for a piece that I could rock until I have a bit more hair. Or can switch it up on occasion…

I totally had all the intentions of doing an outfit post today… but the rain and the fact that I didn’t carry my memory card with me today killed that idea quick!! So hopefully tomorrow I can do a cute outfit and a full body hair reveal. But so far… What do you think?!!

DOTD: Bring on the “Re-vamping”

I am so tired today. I almost didn’t make it to church today because I just feel like poo… and my heart is beating like a million miles a minute. But I told myself I had to get to church. So I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and made it into church. I’m glad I did because I would have missed a powerful word that was intended just for me (not only me of course but it did speak to my situation).

Here is something I have to mention. My 8 year anniversary is in 2 days. I had actually forgotten about it until today. I should have known it was coming because I had this crazy desire to put back on my wedding ring yesterday. It was as if my finger craved it back in its rightful place. So I wore it yesterday and today. Even though he has been a complete shyte to me… I really don’t want my mrarriage to end. But at what point do you say “Enough!”? So I will see what happens on Tuesday. I don’t even know if he even wants this marriage to succeed. Some days he is amazing… other days… not so much. Anyway… I’m sure you’re all tired of hearing about my marriage. Moving on…

So today, I decided to revamp a dress I had already worn but in a different way. I like how the outfit turned out, except for one thing. My hair… it seems that since it has started to grow at an unexpected quick rate… it doesn’t seem to look as cute as it did when it was shorter. But it’s at that in between length that is INFURIATING!!! What I need right now… is help!! My natural hair sisters… HELP!!!! What should I do to make this hair look curly and not afro-esque? It was curly in the beginning now it seems to not curl so much as bush. Any hair advice will be tried and taken to see if it works on my hair. Please list any products you have had success with. Understand that my hair is NOT course. It is soft and curly and thin. So when you see my bush… I can actually run my fingers though it with ease. So products for thick course hair may not be the best for me. But I am interested in products that will make my curls more wavy and hold the curl. I appreciate any hair advice you can offer in advance.

FBFF: Taking Care… Of My Hair

IMG_0153

1.      How often do you get your hair cut? I haven’t cut my hair in years. I wore a wig for so long that it allowed my hair time to grow and get healthy. I do get it trimmed about once every 3 months. No clue if that is frequent or not.

2.      Do you go to the same stylist each time, try someone new, go to the
cheap hair cutting chains or live it up in a salon? I go to a Dominican salon and let them blow out my hair so they can cut and care for my hair also once every 3 months. I am living the natural life now and I don’t really want to spend to much money in the salon. I feel I can take better care of my hair myself. Not sure if that is true or not, but I’m on a strict budget right now.

3.      Do you color your hair? How often? What’s your natural color? My natural hair color is brown. The most boring brown color in the universe.. lol. But I die my hair (semi-permanent) once a month to blackest black. I just think my hair holds shine and oil better when it’s jet black.

4.      The one thing you always do to keep your hair looking great is: I’ve been using organic products as much as I can. I also like to use products with no crazy chemicals (like the Wen shampoo). I also make sure to keep my scalp saturated in oil so it doesn’t get dry and itchy. Anything that brings out the natural curl is a bonus in my book. I think leave in conditioners are the work of genius and with out them I would die.

5.      What hair trend do you love and wish you could rock? I would love to rock the brilliant red of Rihanna. But I know that while I am looking for work that is NOT an option. Not even sure it would work on my skin tone… but I do love the color.

I really love my hair since allowing it to go natural. People say they can see a new me since removing the wig. I feel like my hair being natural allows me to be natural. As in it allows me to be myself without fear of what society says is right. I hope to soon post a video of my hair care regime in order to show people what I do to take care of my hair. silhouette

DOTD: Till The World Ends

Love that song by Britney Spears featuring Nicki Minaj  & Ke$ha. Also makes me think how the Rapture came and went apparently. There is nothing going on in my life. I am in a good  mood. Two days in a row I’m in great spirits for no good reason. I love days like today when the weather is beautiful and I am in a good mood…

I’m in such a good mood. Not even my son trying to skip school (and getting caught by me) could break my mood. lol… kids today (yeah like I didn’t skip when I was younger… lol). Had to put on a serious face when all I want to do is smile.

I love the flower in my hair today… so many people love it!! Even one of my male neighbors said he liked it… loved how bright and big it was. Same reason I love it. What do you think of today’s outfit? How you like my ginormous flower?
