DOTD: Pretty in Pink

First let me begin by saying I don’t celebrate Halloween… I am a Christian and have not celebrated since I was a teenager. I think that everyone tries to make reasons why it’s okay to celebrate as a Christian but my believes are my believes. I will not change my ideals so that I can participate in a day that doesn’t appeal to me. But I will celebrate today as the day that I met my husband… and although my intentions was to never see him again… I’m glad that God had another plan.

As for fashion inspiration… today is the final day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and that seems like a great day to wear pink. So to create my Divalook of the day (DOTD) I pulled out my favorite pink top from ASOS Curve and put it with my “fairly” new skirt from Lane Bryant. Now I don’t usually go into Lane Bryant and see anything that I desperately need to have… but this skirt… I think I actually squealed when I saw this skirt (black and gray leopard print… how could I NOT squeal). Doesn’t hurt that I bought it from my favorite sales people at the Arundel Mills Lane Bryant… S/O to Danielle & Sandra!!!

So I heard twice today that I was pretty in pink… and I thought… perfect title for todays post (s/o to jefa & work wifey)… All in all today was a great day. I learned something about myself today that I allow people to get into my head when they don’t deserve a place there. I am going to make it my mission to not allow the nonsense that people say get to me… because at the end of the day… I am awesome (and if I say it enough… its true… lol)… and although words hurt… they hurt more when you allow them to penetrate… here’s to stopping penetration… (that sounds dirty… but it’s totally not on purpose… lol)

I am about to go to my 2nd job of the evening… so I thought I would post these pics quickly while I had a chance… I apologize for the quality… hubby allowed the autofocus to  make me blurry… and I didn’t have the heart to repose…. Do you celebrate Halloween (or Hallows Eve)? If not, do you have difficulty explaining to others why you don’t partake in the festivities? If you do, what was your costume today or the costume of your child? Also, as this is the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month… have you checked for any lumps, knots, or swelling?

DOTD: I’ve Got Curve Appeal

When I went to NY I was given the opportunity to wear some pieces from Curve Appeal Consignment. So I wore this amazing dress to the finale (yes I am aware I owe you a finale post… but I got sooo lazy!!). So below find the outfit that I was initially going to wear to the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference. It’s an Ruffle Jumpsuit that was consigned and I am in love. If you think you can’t find anything fashionable at a consignment shop… think again.

Now what you have to know is that it is like ridiculously hot outside. So even though I am smiling, I am sweating like a freak between photo takes. I was going to say it was like a thousand degrees outside, but I thought I would just show you the read on my SUV’s thermometer. That’s right… you’re reading it correctly… It’s 117 degrees outside!!! WTH!!!! I was mad while I was outside, then I came home and saw that some people on Facebook have no electricity… puts my temporary overheating in perspective.

Anyway, I love this jumpsuit… and it was fun to dress it up anyway I wanted. If you’re wondering why I have on yellow accessories… welll… I needed a pop of color and my yellow stuff was the closest to my hand before I walked out of the door. Sometimes its not a long thought out process. Sometimes it’s a simple as what does my hand touch… lol. What is the weather like in your neck of the woods? Are you keeping cool during this ridiculous heat wave?

FFFWeek: Lane Bryant Blogger Conference

I can’t believe that God blessed me to be able to attend Full Figure Fashion Week®. And as you know I want to give you play by play and to be as honest about what I experienced so you feel like you were there.

My first event (although I arrived late because of my transportation) was the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference. I missed the beginning but below you will see my pictures from the event. Now when I arrived, I arrived after the lunch break and they began with discussing the fit of their clothing. They explained that for jeans there should be a U shape. I will do a YouTube video later to explain that better as opposed to just writing it.

The conference was great but I am a little concerned that they seemed to not want to market using fuller figured models. Which I can understand from a business standpoint. But from a fatshionista standpoint… I feel a little upset because I don’t “aspire” to be the size of the girls in their ads. I am at my size and if I get bigger… fine. And if I get smaller that is fine as well. But it would be nice to see more models that look like me.

The highlight for me was the T3 jeans (Tighter Tummy Technology®) and I want a pair so badly. I was unable to win a pair so I will be using the $50 gift card they gave us to buy a pair later. OH YEAH!!!

Lane Bryant gave this blogger a makeover. She looked AMAZING!!!

T3 future ad!! Smoking hot… right?

You will find that because I desperately need a new lens on my camera, that I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have had I been able to purchase the lens I had hoped to purchase. But know I will still try to get you the feel of my fffweek experience.

After I left the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference, my roomates and I were finally able to check into our room… Awesome room!!

WorkWear Wednesday: Heat Wave

First, I only wore this outfit for the post. It’s like 1000 degrees outside and there is no way I could wear all the above clothing without dying (or atleast passing out for a few minutes). But what is crazy, this is my favorite of all my workwear pieces. I need a job to be able to wear this. I mean… how cute is this outfit. Super cute. And can you believe that the accessories came to me last minute? I was going do do an all brown look… but at the last minute the teal earrings, shoes, and ring popped into my mind. And I LOVE it…

I woke up at 3:30am today and started applying for jobs. I am more motivated then ever to find work. I miss certain luxeries and I have a feeling that God is going to bless me soon. I don’t know when. And I have a feeling it won’t be what I was making before… but I can feel the blessings on the horizon. So I apply until this computer is on fire. Because this summer, I am working towards saving for a house for my children. Period.

So my question this week is this.. Would you still visit my blog if I didn’t ever have anything new? Would you still love me if my blog was just reworkings of pieces I already own? What do you think of today’s outfit for work? Would you wear it? Would you change any pieces?

DOTD: Coral-ly Speaking… of course

Today was a good day. I woke up this morning with the desire to work out. I wanted to start this spring off with a great healthy regime for walking and taking care of self. So I jumped up this morning with the intent of walking 1.5 miles. Well… when I got to my turn around point… the little store I buy my water was closed… so I walked an additional 0.75 miles to the next store to buy water and then turned around and walked home (at least I think that is the math that equals what I did) which totaled 3 miles. Well upon returning home I sat down to take a call before my shower… Ay Dios Mio!!! When I stood up again… I wanted to cry… my hip was KILLING me. I mean I thought I had seriously hurt myself. But I knew better… my body was NOT ready for that kind of walking on the first or second day out of the box. I know better. So now I’m paying for it. Seriously, I don’t know if I can walk tomorrow. I want to… but don’t know if I can.

I also broke a nail today. I should have been devastated but I’m not… I’m in a good mood. Even before the walk I knew today was going to be as good as I made it. I went Easter dress shopping for the girls (even on my bad hip… I know I sound like my grandma… lol) and found a cute embellished jacket for like $12 (score!!) and the necklace that I’m going to wear for my Easter outfit.

So as for today’s look… first off… the flowers are going to be “my thing” because I like them… and second… this outfit was supposed to be with an all brown tank dress… but apparently… I don’t own one (yeah… I know right!!) so I decided this dress would have to do. I actually had no intention of it turning out this well… but I REALLY like it! What do you think of today’s look?!

DOTD: Allergic Reaction

Okay, so today I realized something… I’m allergic to something at my church. Now usually I would use this an excuse to look for a “new church home” which translates into me sitting home each Sunday NOT going to church. But I generally LOVE this church. The people are sooo sweet and they remember my name. Do you have any idea what it feels like to walk into church and have the Pastor address you by your name… not sister, or child, or young lady… but the legal name you were born with… its like HEAVEN (no pun intended). So instead of leaving the church I realize that before I walk into the church I will have to pop an allergy pill to keep my eyes from watering and my nose from dripping and my face from puffing. I bet here you’re wondering… why is it that two months in… I’m just now noticing it. Well, to be honest. I was in such shambles over my life and just depression and just sad. That every Sunday when the Pastor would speak I would burst into tears. Mainly because what he was saying was speaking to me. But since I joined last week I feel a change. You may not have noticed because well… its not that apparent because I’m blogging and well you don’t see me everyday. But I’m calmer and more at peace with where my life is… So today when I was in church… I didn’t cry. I just felt… at home and at peace.

I know all my readers may not like this subject matter… but its where I am at this current time in my life. So… I hope I don’t offend…

Now onto the fashion… This dress… this dress right here… lol… it is old as my son (give or take 5 years) which means this is about 10-15 years old. Yeah… I know right. My mom owned it and then “gifted” to me when I lost a lot of weight years ago and I literally had nothing to wear to work. So this was her gift… then after I had my 2 additional kids and I gained like a gazillion pounds and couldn’t fit an 18/20 anymore… (I seriously will post pictures one day of me in a size 24/26) so I put this dress into the back of my closet because… in my head… I could still wear it in my 24/26 size because it was stretchy… only it didn’t quite… ummm… fit. LOL. So I put it away to donate…. and honestly forgot it was in my closet. So now as I’m just completely at my wits-end on what to wear now that winter has somehow decided to NEVER LEAVE… I am doing what I can and wearing what I can to keep myself from going nutso!! Also, I realized that this is like the 3rd post in a row where I wore something in the teal family… I’m sorry… I mean to have more variety… but I don’t know what happened. So my intention is to make it up to you in the next outfit post.
