DOTD: ReVamping This Dress… Again

Hola Divas,
I know I’ve worn this dress only a few posts ago. But if I had been blogging as frequently as I would like… then this wouldn’t be as noticeable. But when it was so so hot on the East coast… it was just too much to get up each morning and to care enough to take a picture of my outfits. Its not because I didn’t want to… but because I just couldn’t bear to be out in that heat for longer than 5 minutes.

I know it sounds like I’m being overly “Diva” but actually I get severely sick when my body overheats. You probably can’t tell it now but I used to be a HUGE book nerd as a kid. So much so that while other kids were outside playing, I was indoors living inside my mind with the characters of my favorite books. Enter me as an adult who wants to spend the day at a theme park in the sun with my children… only to be told by my doctor that I can’t. Why? Because my body never adapted to life outdoors as a child… doing it now is not an option. My body overheats… I get the ugliest blisters on my skin and I have occasionally blacked out when the heat became too much. So the last 2 weeks… have not been fun for me… an hour outdoors has a tendency to leave me so drained I can’t function for like an entire day afterward. Anyway… today I noticed it was a perfect 79° this morning so I wanted to take advantage of a great outfit… and a low temperature morning. I’m very happy to be back on my game (please August… try not to suck). Hope you like this outfit… I LOVE the shoes!!! On to the fashion… Do you have any health issues that this heat is flaring up? How have you stayed cool during these super hot days? Has your fashion or blogging been affected by the heatwave? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Pulling Out An Old Favorite

Hola Divas…
I love my new job. I mean I know I say it often on twitter and Facebook… but I really really love my new job. So today was a pretty big day. I had a big meeting that I had to prepare for and all this week was prep for said meeting. I had been told on Tuesday that I had to be careful with the amount of “skin” I showed at work. I know that many people would think I would take offense to this… but I didn’t. I even posted some information about it on Facebook because of 2 reasons… 1) Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE my boobies and they know I don’t always think before getting dressed & 2) Because my friends are hilarious and I knew that they would make some awesomely ridiculous jokes about it. However, some people took it quite serious. And that is how you know which people know you best.

So needless to say… when I knew I had this SUPER important meeting today… I knew I had to look professional and not show any skin. So I went into my closet and thought… what to wear. And this Igigi dress stood out and said.. “Hello!!! Remember me?!!” I did remember this dress and how often I wore it before I started blogging. But today… when I wore it… it brought back memories of how awesome I have always felt in this dress. I didn’t want to be boring so I decided to spruce up the outfit with coral accessiories (you remember how I feel about coral) and I felt like a million bucks. I also felt that adding the cami and the shoes made it professional with a little something extra. But a comment was made on my facebook/instagram photo "You allowed to wear shoes like that to work??” Which leads me to the question for today’s post… Are my shoes inappropriate for work? If so, why? Because in what handbook does any company mention shoes (other than flipflops & sandals)? Would you wear shoes like this to work if your were running a meeting? Do you think company handbooks should include what types of embellishments should be allowed on shoes that are worn in the office? Know that your answers to this question will not stop my shoe game (I mean seriously… you know how I love my heels), but I’m just curious what you all think… Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: It’s Gonna Be Alright

Today I went to church as per normal. I took the kids with me as the husband was working so he couldn’t use the time to spend with them. I hate to take time away from him… but Summer Sunday School is about to start and I think that would be much more beneficial for my kids than sitting in McDonalds with their weekend Dad while he tries to pretend all is okay. Plus my girls really enjoy dressing up and going to church. My son, who could use far more church time than the rest of us… always tries to find an excuse for why he can't go… that of course NEVER works.

As for my title today, I had been having a hard time lately. It’s getting harder knowing that my finances are non-existent… but today when leaving church my Pastor hugged me and whispered in my ear “I know it’s been hard, but it’s going to be alright”. I started to cry. Because it’s like he saw everything I’ve been through in the last 3 weeks. He could be reading my blog, but I seriously doubt it. Even so, the words spoke volumes to me. And I do know it will be alright. God has made a way out of no way thus far. He will continue to work great things in my life going forward. Now if I could just stop cussing full stop. Because sometimes… I have such a potty mouth. And that is the hardest thing to stop doing. It’s like I have Tourette's. I will drop an F-bomb with a quickness when things are extremely upsetting. Now once I stop doing that. Maybe people will see the new me. I tried saying Shut The Front Door the other day… my kids laughed for a solid 20 minutes. I thought they would never stop laughing. LOL!!

Before I do the outfit… I will leave you with this. As women we sometimes fish for compliments. You have to be careful what you ask. I asked a long time friend how I looked today, assuming the answer would be flattering… I was sadly mistaken. He told me I needed to exercise and my dress would look better. Deflated that balloon quickly. Won’t be fishing for compliments anytime soon… LMAO… that’s what I get… should’ve know better. Do you fish for compliments when you think you look great? Have you ever had the air let out of your head as quickly as I did? What do you think of this Dressbarn dress that I’ve had FOREVER?!

Outfit Breakdown:
Dress: Dressbarn
Brown tank: Wal-mart
Shoes: Bakers Shoes

Below see how my girls looked for church… Mari didn’t want to smile in the photos so her sister held her face into a smile… I thought that was adorable. My son is a teenager and wanted nothing to do with having his photo taken.

DOTD: Effortless Color Blocking

I have not blogged in 2 days and I feel like I am losing my mind. I wanted to blog… but I was knee deep in my closet and finding items to sale. I’m still not done but I had to post something or really risk losing my mind.

I received this Effortless Colorblocked Dress from Monroe & Main last week and it would have been a great dress to wear on Easter but I had already planned the purple dress. So I decided to hold off. I tried the dress on and was happy I did because it felt so good against my skin. It has nice construction and well made. I have tried them in the past because my mom was a huge catalog shopper and liked their clothing for church. I am a born-again fan because this dress is nice… but most importantly… the sizing chart is SPOT ON!!!

So many times I shop for things based on the sizing chart and then when it shows up, it fits everywhere but on “the girls” and then I’m stuck trying to make it work with tanks and camis because it is so boobie-licious… I can’t leave my house without fear of a fallout accident. This dress has cleavage but not to the point of being too much. The automatic colorblocking of this dress means I can pretty much put any color accessories with this dress and make it awesome. I’m glad this is the dress they sent because it is typical girly-ness me.

I got this dress in a 2X. So figure if I had gotten a 3X it would have been bigger but not too baggy because of my girls. If you feel like I’m showing to much cleavage you should go up to the 3X. I’m comfortable with the 2X. I really think you should swing by Monroe & Main’s website and try out their Plus size fashions. It’s not just for older conservatives anymore… they have pieces that could work in any wardrobe.

My only wish for this dress is that I wish it were longer, because with my stilettos… I look like I’m all legs. Which I don’t mind, but sometimes you don’t want to feel like one strong breeze will show all your secrets lol.

Have you ever purchased from Monroe & Main? Swing by their page now and leave a comment below with something you’d like to wear… Also… what do you think of this dress?

DOTD: Burgundy & Coral

I saw the shoes, bought the shoes, & then it occurred to me… what in the hizzell would I wear with them. So then I’m perusing the Forever21+ website and saw this top… and then the shoes made sense in my world. So… this outfit has been sitting in my closet to be worn for weeks… but everyday I woke up to 30 degree weather. And everyday this outfit just sat. So today… we’ve got 73 degree weather… this outfit had to happen… oh yeah… pure happiness over here. Would have never have thought to put burgundy and coral together… now I can’t’ wait to try it again… but with different pieces…

Also, I am wearing sunglasses in most the pics… because with beautiful weather comes allergy eyes… They don’t show up as much on the pictures. But they are puffy.

So what are you wearing this Monday? What colors are making you happy today? What do you think of my Monday look?

DOTD: Allergic Reaction

Okay, so today I realized something… I’m allergic to something at my church. Now usually I would use this an excuse to look for a “new church home” which translates into me sitting home each Sunday NOT going to church. But I generally LOVE this church. The people are sooo sweet and they remember my name. Do you have any idea what it feels like to walk into church and have the Pastor address you by your name… not sister, or child, or young lady… but the legal name you were born with… its like HEAVEN (no pun intended). So instead of leaving the church I realize that before I walk into the church I will have to pop an allergy pill to keep my eyes from watering and my nose from dripping and my face from puffing. I bet here you’re wondering… why is it that two months in… I’m just now noticing it. Well, to be honest. I was in such shambles over my life and just depression and just sad. That every Sunday when the Pastor would speak I would burst into tears. Mainly because what he was saying was speaking to me. But since I joined last week I feel a change. You may not have noticed because well… its not that apparent because I’m blogging and well you don’t see me everyday. But I’m calmer and more at peace with where my life is… So today when I was in church… I didn’t cry. I just felt… at home and at peace.

I know all my readers may not like this subject matter… but its where I am at this current time in my life. So… I hope I don’t offend…

Now onto the fashion… This dress… this dress right here… lol… it is old as my son (give or take 5 years) which means this is about 10-15 years old. Yeah… I know right. My mom owned it and then “gifted” to me when I lost a lot of weight years ago and I literally had nothing to wear to work. So this was her gift… then after I had my 2 additional kids and I gained like a gazillion pounds and couldn’t fit an 18/20 anymore… (I seriously will post pictures one day of me in a size 24/26) so I put this dress into the back of my closet because… in my head… I could still wear it in my 24/26 size because it was stretchy… only it didn’t quite… ummm… fit. LOL. So I put it away to donate…. and honestly forgot it was in my closet. So now as I’m just completely at my wits-end on what to wear now that winter has somehow decided to NEVER LEAVE… I am doing what I can and wearing what I can to keep myself from going nutso!! Also, I realized that this is like the 3rd post in a row where I wore something in the teal family… I’m sorry… I mean to have more variety… but I don’t know what happened. So my intention is to make it up to you in the next outfit post.

Teal Cardigan: Motto (Curve Appeal Consignment)
Belt: Lane Bryant

Tights: Wal-mart
