DOTD: Longest Day Ever… no seriously

I got off work at 10pm… yes… you read that correctly… I am learning how to do the job my previous boss (Pecana) was doing. I love all the time she has taken to train me even though she doesn’t work there full time. I have to admit that if you had told me last year that I would be doing much of her job… I would have called you a liar… but wonders never cease.

So needless to say… I got to work at 8:45am and left at 9:59pm… color me exhausted. However, I love the outfit I was wearing today and since I haven’t blogged an outfit in what feels like months, I wanted to post this look before I passed out asleep.

I am soooo behind on blogging due to work & just life in general… but know that this weekend I plan on catching up with all of your blogs… scouts honor. I hope you like this outfit… Have you ever worked a day as long as I did today? (who am I kidding… this isn’t even the longest day I’ve ever worked… lol). Is there something you would like to see on the blog in coming days?

P.S. Hubby is doing much better. I know I never gave you all an update but he is feeling much better. Some days are better than others… but end result is that if he eats healthy… he will be fine **YAY!!!**

DOTD: If Drama Was Dollar Bills

Yep, if I had as much money as I have drama in my life… I would be rich. Seriously… I am super excited about Full Figure Fashion Week because it will be a much needed vacation from my life. Everyday is something else… No need to bring it up. It’s the same old stuff I always deal with… no job, hubby, teenage son, and financial issues. So life is what it is… can’t fix it over night… so currently I am going to pretend like everything is peachy keen.

Today’s outfit is because I have this shirt for ever. And I never know how to wear it because it’s so big and if I wear it with big bottoms I look huge and sloppy. So I figured a snug form fitting bottom would bring it all together. I really like how it turned out. Not to mention my shoes are gray with pink bottoms… TOO CUTE!!!

I know I always end with a question… but I am so drawing a blank from lack of sleep (if you look at the pics with no sunglasses you can see I’m not lying). So…. ummmm…. thinking….. oooooh… got it!!
What summer time shows do you watch? Are you a Drop Dead Diva fan? What do you think about today’s outfit?

Outfit Breakdown:
Striped Top: Dots
Denim Pencil Skirt: Torrid
Earrings: Beauty Supply
Shoes: Shoedazzle
D&G Sunglasses: Flea Market

DOTD: Meeting my Destiny

So after yesterday… I feel there is not much to that could top that outfit… so I won’t even attempt to try. But what I will do is wear something that won’t give my client a heart attack as I have meetings today. So I decided to wear something professional yet comfortable.

I know you’ve seen this ASOS Curve top around the blogosphere. I’ve seen in on atleast 4 blogs so far and it’s probably on like 10 more. But I love the shade and I wanted to wear it with a color that I hadn’t seen yet. It seems most other bloggers wore it with black, I decided to go completely crazy and wear it with brown (I know the difference is astounding *sarcasm* lol). I know it still mimics other outfits you’ve seen so I decided to really kick it up a notch and wear it with brown sparkly tights. I got them at Kmart and I love them. If it weren’t the last pair, I would have gotten like 12 pair.

Okay so for like over a year, I have been looking for the perfect brown skirt. Everytime I bought one, it either didn’t work with certain pieces or it was too big, or it was too long. There never seemed to be a brown skirt that did what I needed it to accomplish. So on Black Friday I started perusing websites trying to again find the PERFECT BROWN SKIRT. I saw this skirt on Kiyonna’s website… I thought (as the angels sang in the background) “There is my skirt”. Couldn’t afford it at the time but I made a declaration that when I got paid, that skirt would be my first purchase. I kept my promise… It arrived yesterday, I steamed it this morning… and Viola!!! on the blog. For the record, I love this skirt even more than I thought I would. The material is stretchy but not to much so. Its fitting, but not tight. The satin sash makes it different but I can use the belt loops for an actual belt if I so choose too. Needless to say, they need to make this skirt in every color on the rainbow.

So here is the completed look… gold earrings and my brown wedge knee high boots from Aerosoles completed this look. I like how it turned out… what do you think?

DOTD: Grab a pencil... jot it down

Okay, I know I had on a pencil skirt yesterday. And I am wearing another one today. But today I have meetings and I want to look fairly professional. The bright pink tights might throw that off a bit. These are my very first pair of Spanx. Don't own a Spanx girdle or anything thing. What you see in my pics is all my rolls in their glory. But this color... how could I resist? I'm in love!!

Anyway, this outfit also had to be worked out with my boss because at my urging she purchased these exact boots I’m wearing. Yes… they are that fabulous… And I had to make sure that we would not be wearing them on the same day. I am such a little pusher. She used to wear only like 2 ½ inch to 3 inch heels… now I got her rocking the glamazon stilettos on a daily basis. Yeah… I’m a pusher (again if you’re a Mean Girls fan… this line makes so much more sense… lol).

With everything else… all things are good. I am slowly and steadily getting my finances in order and by tax time, hubby and I should be golden. I realized that the past 2 years were a test to see if I could stop being selfish. You may not have noticed (but you probably did)… that when it came to finances I was seriously selfish. I bought for me first and then for everyone else after. And I convinced myself it was because I was working and needed/deserved it. This is weird because I try to do the right things in most situations, but I was missing the mark on that part of my life. Hubby has noticed the change in me and actually told me he’s proud of how far I’ve come. And its funny but I’m proud too. I think that life’s lessons are meant to teach you something, so if you go through hard times and don’t learn anything… then you will go through it again. Here’s hoping that I don’t have to go through this kind of year EVER again.

Okay enough about me… let’s focus on why you really stopped by… my outfit… Again… my boss convinced me to wear these tights because she though it would be cool on an all black outfit… I like how it turned out. Even if the looks in the office are like… “What the hell is she wearing?!!” lol

What do you think? ¿qué piensas?

DOTD: Kicking Back

Have you ever put on something and you instantly felt better? I put on today’s outfit and the little congestion I was feeling and the tummy ache I was feeling all seemed to fade to the background. Now all I keep thinking is why don’t all my pencil skirts have kick pleats? I mean I feel like I was just dropped back into the 40s (without the whole race thing being an issue) and me and Audrey Hepburn are going to go to this Jazz spot and have drinks. Yeah… a lot of my fashion icon fantasies include Audrey, Marilyn, and Rosalyn Russell. We would be besties and they wouldn’t know what to do with the colored fashionable lady that they love. I would make Dorothy Dandridge look like a QueenDiva wannabee. Hey… girls gotta dream… right?

So yesterday I worked from home because I couldn’t shake my stomach pain. Now because I have so much to get done today, I wish I had just sucked it up and come into the office. Because in hindsight… it wasn’t my best decision… regardless… I’m in a good mood for 2 reason… my outfit… and Yaz’s outfit… that girl is going to be one heck of a fashion blogger some day J

Finding Fashion Inspiration Everywhere #4: I am Leopard... hear me ROAR!!!

So I am in the process of writing an article about how I feel about leopard prints. And in the process I felt I would live the leopard look... Now I am not much a fan of the Kardashians... but if I did have to pick my favorite it would be Khloe. This is mainly because of her "actual" weight issues (unlike her sister who was NOT overweight) and how she has it the most together and yet her family treats her like a redheaded stepchild with a stuttering problem. So when I went looking for a look I wanted to duplicate, I didn't mind so much using her as my muse...

As I am not a celebrity, I know I may not hit the mark with this look... but I really really like it. I think it would really be cute if I had a plain leopard tank. I really don't know what else to say about this look...

Outfit Breakdown:
Blazer: Silhouettes
Leopard Tube Top: Loop 18
Skirt: Asos Curve
Shoes: Michael Shannon (Off Broadyway Shoes)
Earrings: Icing

Ay Ay Captain... Anchors Aweigh!!

Not having a job is seriously hurting my inner Diva. So today I decided that instead of taking a photo of what I am wearing today, I would take a picture of what I would wear had I been working...

I have been wanting to do this nautical look for quite some time. So now that I know my shirt is actually navy blue & white as opposed to black and white, this helped this outfit along. You may recall on my feature "Finding Fashion Inspiration Everywhere" I drafted this outfit from the mother at the school. I think I did it pretty darn close...

Had I been at work, I think I would have gotten respect from sailors everywhere *winks*

Outfit Breakdown:
Striped Top: Torrid
Sweater: Torrid
Belt: Torrid
Pencil Skirt: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Michael Shannon (Off Broadway Shoes)

DOTD: Green Eyed Monster

So I think that today's title is perfect, because I am currently being HATED on. So... that green eyed monster fits... because the jealousy in this office is running rampant. I have never done anything to anyone to deserve being treated like this. I still can't go into complete details... but it hurts... when someone you trusted as a mentor stabs you in the back like this... it fucking hurts (excuse my urban... cause it's not French).

It also fits because this morning... when I couldn't bear to look at the ugly drab gray and black outfit in the mirror... I knew I needed a kick of color. I wanted to be kick ass today and I needed my color to be equally strong. Pink, purple, nor teal seemed to fit. So I grabbed my green tank and immediately envisioned the matching eye shadow. The accessories were an afterthought but I think it all works. I am really proud of this outfit for two reasons. I took a risk matching 3 colors (which I rarely do) and I am still showing up looking professional, regardless if I am not being treated professionally. What do my divas think?

Btw... I really appreciate all the support I get here... If not for this blog... and my writing in general... I don't know where I would be...
