DOTD: Just Chillaxin’

Today I wanted to chill and get rid of this cold I’ve been nursing for days. So I decided it was better if I just put on something that was casual and fun. What is more fun than a Fraggle Rock tee? I mean I LOVED that show when I was younger. I watched it recently on Netflix and it was funny because it is sooooo cheesy, but I have to admit, the songs are infectious.

Isn’t it funny how much things have changed? When my kids love shows that are borderline adult content and have phrases that kids probably shouldn’t ever repeat. And shows like Southpark, Family Guy, and The Simpsons are the top rated cartoons in America. It makes me yearn for the days when Fraggle Rock, The Muppets, and Thundercats were the most “edgy” kids shows out there. And the only time you had to worry about what you were watching is when they would do a risky “After School Special”. As a parent, it sometimes saddens me how nothing is risky anymore. Even Spongebob crosses the line on occasion. When my daughter saw my tee today, she asked me what it was about. So now I want her to experience Fraggle Rock and will make a point to show her how shows USED to be. Are there any shows that you want your kids to experience before shows today get too out of hand? What is your favorite kids show of your youth? What do you think of today’s casual outfit?

Outfit Breakdown:
Fraggle Rock Tee: Target
Denim Capris: Loop18
Vest: Ashley Stewart
Shoes: Paprika (ebay)
Earrings: Beauty Supply

DOTD: Going against the grain…

Well, today I decided to do a look without any color. This was hard for me because I totally wanted to rock this with red booties. I hope that it shows that I am willing to step out my color box to proof that my fashion is not one sided.

Now yesterday something happened that made me realize where I really want my life to go. I still plan on starting my stylist business which is technically already started. But I decided that after all the bullying and problems in schools, I want to mentor plus size teens and students. I want to show the youth that “It does get better” and that fat is more accepted when you walk the walk and talk the talk… If you act like a victim they will treat you as one. I want to empower these girls and boys and let them know that when you accept yourself, others will accept you. You want to know what started this, while trying to get my cell fixed I met a mother whose daughter would call from college crying because the “thin” girls made her feel unwelcome. This has to stop. I was the one that you didn’t have to invite me, I would show up and just be the life of the party… I would be invited next time. If you are always a wall covering… the world will treat you like one…
Stand up and make them notice the plus size divas…

back to the outfit…

I came up with this idea yesterday completely by accident… I wanted to find away to use some items I had previously reviewed on my blog.

Items:
Sizes to Fit Millenium Bustier Dress with rose belt
Lucie Lu Memoir Sweater in Charcoal
Loop 18 Tulle Skirt

Finding Fashion Inspiration Everywhere #4: I am Leopard... hear me ROAR!!!

So I am in the process of writing an article about how I feel about leopard prints. And in the process I felt I would live the leopard look... Now I am not much a fan of the Kardashians... but if I did have to pick my favorite it would be Khloe. This is mainly because of her "actual" weight issues (unlike her sister who was NOT overweight) and how she has it the most together and yet her family treats her like a redheaded stepchild with a stuttering problem. So when I went looking for a look I wanted to duplicate, I didn't mind so much using her as my muse...

As I am not a celebrity, I know I may not hit the mark with this look... but I really really like it. I think it would really be cute if I had a plain leopard tank. I really don't know what else to say about this look...

Outfit Breakdown:
Blazer: Silhouettes
Leopard Tube Top: Loop 18
Skirt: Asos Curve
Shoes: Michael Shannon (Off Broadyway Shoes)
Earrings: Icing
