Monroe & Main Review & Giveaway

Monroe and Main is a campaign going on that helps women dress to deal with their problem areas. I know as a confident blogger I may get some flack for doing something to "Camouflage Mid-Section" but even I have days where I want to hide certain imperfections on my body. Which is why the Monroe & Main Fit For You Guide is so perfect. It helps women of different sizes and shapes find stylist clothing to help with their trouble areas. The four categories during the month of October are:

  • Hide Hips and Add Height
  • Short-Waisted
  • Camoflauge Mid-Section
  • De-Emphasize Bust

This week I am doing the Camouflage Mid-Section along with Hannah R. from http://www.anoldstoryblog.blogspot.com. If you go to the Monroe & Main website you will find that they help you find your fit...

After that... you can choose what you want to section speak to your body type and it will give you tips like you see below. It will also link you to fashion that is directly connected to the section you choose. Easy peezy... right. Wrong... once they link you to the fashion, be prepared to find it quite difficult to not want to buy everything you see.

So after I chose what I wanted to do to camouflage my midsection (you can't go wrong with a wrap dress).  I decided to wear it too different ways. I noticed the dress I choose would be great for spring/summer... but was fun & funky enough to also make the transition into fall. I also was gifted a blazer... but apparently it is still in a box somewhere as I recently moved. Here is what I did with the dress and necklace that Monroe and Main graciously provided...

First... I wore it with no tights with a patent pump. Easy and fun... I wore a tank under because it would have still have been for work. But you could have easily taken off the tank and made it a date night outfit.

While outside taking these pictures... I had the insight that it was too cool to wear no hosiery... so I revamped the outfit in fall fashion and had hubby take more pictures...

What I'm weraring:
Tank: forever21
noTights: Silkies
Patent pumps: Target
Gold studded booties: Lolashoetique
earrings: ?????

As you can probably tell... I felt more confident in the second round of shots... but all in all I love the dress and the blazer (sad face you will have to see it later)... But I will definitely be buying more pieces from them. This dress was so comfortable I didn't want to take it off...

If you haven't given Monroe & Main a try yet... now is a perfect time to do so... here is how you can connect with them...

DOTD: Lather, Rinse, Repeat

Hola Divas,
If you know me, which I like to think that if you read my blog you know me a little… anyway… if you know me you know that I hate repeating my outfits. I always change something on the second go around, be it the cami, the shoes, and/or the accessories. So imagine my dismay when I went to take the pictures for the Kiyonna Brigade Blogger only to find that all the pictures are super blurry and unusable. So, I had to repeat the outfit in order to fulfill my obligation which was hard for me… but because I love this dress… it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be…

I’ve been looking for a awesome red dress for a while so this Sweatheart Knit Wrap Dress is exactly what I was looking for… I wanted the first time I wore it to be simple with black & white accent pieces. I figure I can dress this up multiple ways later with the right accessories. Blue, yellow, and purple are some great ideas that come to mind first.

I know I haven’t been posting much lately but I’ve had a lot going on. If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram you know some of what is going on. My husband fell off a ladder and is now on crutches. He had surgery this past Thursday and we hope to have him back on his feet (no pun intended) within 6 weeks. I have been working and running around lately so much that I am just too exhausted to take regular pictures. But I’m hoping all that will change soon as we should be moving into a house soon. And with that will come more ease with taking my own pictures. Hopefully no more hallway shots. I work a lot of hours but I still love my job. And I’m really starting to see what I’m capable of… Have you had much going on with you? How do you handle large amounts of stress all at the same time? Do you find that after you’ve been through the ringer… that something great usually happens soon thereafter? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Bluer than Blue

Hola Divas…
Ever have somewhere important you have to be and you can’t for the life of you think of something to wear. That is what happened to me Sunday night. I had a big meeting with our client on Monday and I couldn’t think of anything to wear but leggings (which would have probably have cost me my job). Lately I have been having fashion block. I have had some cute outfits here and there but since my camera is acting stupid and makes all my shots blurry… I just don’t feel like taking pictures. I will be buying a new lens soon… just don’t know when.

So here are the updates on what has been going on with me. I still love my job… yes… that hasn’t changed. My son is doing better and has decided to make it his goal to be drafted by the NBA (clearly after he gets a college education though). He is doing much better even though he does occasionally makes me want to commit teenager homicide (was I this annoying when I was a teenager? Probably lol). My daughters have decided to pick their own hairstyles and they are rather trendy… at least in my opinion. My hubby is still working for himself even though he is currently on crutches due to the fact that he fractured his heel falling off a ladder. We are also looking for a house which will greatly impact my shopping… but my family will no longer be in this apartment. I’ve joined the gym. Haven’t lost any weight… but he has changed how I’ve been feeling lately… and that is really why I wanted to work out.

I miss my readers… your comments and commentary actually make my day, week, month, & year… If you ever want to see more of me and I haven’t blogged lately… feel free to follow me on instagram my name is @deepqueendiva
I do a post there daily of my shoes of the day… which you know I love love love shoes.

Here is what I wore to my meeting… It was a last minute idea… and I liked how it turned out. Are you on instagram? Would you like me to follow you? Leave you instagram name in the comments and I will follow you…  Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

Review: Smokin’ Hot Jacket (Wilsons Leather)

Hola Divas…
So earlier this week, I took time out before work (really early in the AM) to take pictures of me in a Leather Blazer I received from Wilsons Leather for a review post. They found me online after joining the Kiyonna Blogger Brigade. They sent the jacket wanting me to just try on the jacket in a post and to review how it fits.

Here is what I first want to tell you. Being a blogger is hard work because even though I was exceedingly excited about the jacket and the possible fit of it, the thought of actually putting it on during this recent heat wave made me physically ill (no really… I had heat exhaustion just thinking about that jacket). But on Monday, I decided… who cares… this jacket looks amazing (on the hanger). Then I tried it on… I think I actually heard angels sing.

Cons:

  • It’s too freaking hot to wear leather… period
  • Color: Wouldn’t I have loved a crazy color like red, purple, or forest green. But black is equally fine.

Pros

  • Material: The leather is super soft. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I was not expecting a jacket that felt like it was made out of leather cashmere…
  • Fit: This jacket is a size 3x. Due to my arms… sometimes things don't fit quite like I would like them too. But this left ample space in the arms but wasn’t too large that it ruined the fit of the jacket.
  • Cut: It’s a blazer cut… enough said… it’s cut trendy and hugs the curves.

All in all, had I not been given this jacket to review… I would have definitely bought it. I think that my biggest problem is that I don’t generally think about fall items until its actually fall/winter (unless its shoes). But I realize that I have to pay more attention, this jacket which is usually $400 is currently on sale for $179.99. That is the kind of deal I need in my life. What type of jackets do you wear in the fall? Would you consider giving Wilsons Leather Jackets a try? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

Disclaimer: I was not compensated for reviewing this product and all opinions are honestly written. Wilsons Leather graciously provided me with this jacket so that I could write this review.

Diva Spotlight: Diva Soiree

It has been many months since my last Diva Spotlight post. I mentioned on my Facebook Fan Page and on Twitter that I love the the opportunity to shine the spotlight on someone who is NOT me. I want to give my readers an opportunity to feel like the center of my universe for ATLEAST one day (but knowing that due to how infrequently I blog… you may be the center of attention for longer than a day… lol). So imagine my surprise when my coworker said she would love to be a Diva for the day…

So today I shine an office style florescent spotlight on… Diva Soiree of SoireeLove’s Channel on YouTube

photo

Dress & Lace Blazer: Macy’s
Shoes & Earrings: Bakers
Bracelets: Forever21

In her own words: I feel like a DIVA in this because I love the color against my skin. The lace blazer gives it a chic feel with the green trim sleeves and the bracelets shine the outfit up with a classy sparkle. There's just enough leg shown to be conservative yet sexy. I’ve never worn this color before but every diva should feel womanly in any color she chooses.

Isn’t she SASSY & CLASSY?!! Show her love in the comments...

If you want to be the next Diva to be Spotlighted!!! Send an email for more information to yramirez.diva@gmail.com or read up on my project here: Diva Spotlight

DOTD: Spikes & Leopard

Hola Divas,
That title sounds like some strange S&M club that you have to get a blood test to join. LOL. Anyway, I was super excited about this outfit and then NONE of the pictures turned out. Either I didn’t include the shoes, or it was blurry, or I looked like I was about to commit a murder (meaning I wasn’t smiling) or there is a dumpster in the background. Anyway… I’m hoping that you can see the premise of this outfit. Meaning that I wanted to show how I tied the pieces together and how I got to finally wear my first pair of shoes from LolaShoetique. These shoes are fierce!!! Also, if you follow me on twitter or instagram or facebook… you know I cut my hair… if you do not… then you are seeing my hair cut for the first time. Yes it looks like it did when I would pull it back… but now it has purpose… lol

Another exciting thing about today is a coworker hired me to style her for the fall. Which says that she trusts my ability and thinks I know a little something something about fashion. I posted 2 of the ideas I created for her below on my blog. Future ideas won’t be included on my blog as she wants it to be solely for her. I get it… I strive to be original even if I am using someone else’s look for inspiration. As with anything, we want to put our own spin on it.

I have very little else going on in my life other than work and family. So… in the weeks that I haven’t blogged… What have I missed? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~
