DOTD: Kicking Back

Have you ever put on something and you instantly felt better? I put on today’s outfit and the little congestion I was feeling and the tummy ache I was feeling all seemed to fade to the background. Now all I keep thinking is why don’t all my pencil skirts have kick pleats? I mean I feel like I was just dropped back into the 40s (without the whole race thing being an issue) and me and Audrey Hepburn are going to go to this Jazz spot and have drinks. Yeah… a lot of my fashion icon fantasies include Audrey, Marilyn, and Rosalyn Russell. We would be besties and they wouldn’t know what to do with the colored fashionable lady that they love. I would make Dorothy Dandridge look like a QueenDiva wannabee. Hey… girls gotta dream… right?

So yesterday I worked from home because I couldn’t shake my stomach pain. Now because I have so much to get done today, I wish I had just sucked it up and come into the office. Because in hindsight… it wasn’t my best decision… regardless… I’m in a good mood for 2 reason… my outfit… and Yaz’s outfit… that girl is going to be one heck of a fashion blogger some day J

My outfit breakdown:
Sweater: Dots
Belt: Torrid
Skirt: Torrid (seriously in love with the kick pleat)

Ay Ay Captain... Anchors Aweigh!!

Not having a job is seriously hurting my inner Diva. So today I decided that instead of taking a photo of what I am wearing today, I would take a picture of what I would wear had I been working...

I have been wanting to do this nautical look for quite some time. So now that I know my shirt is actually navy blue & white as opposed to black and white, this helped this outfit along. You may recall on my feature "Finding Fashion Inspiration Everywhere" I drafted this outfit from the mother at the school. I think I did it pretty darn close...

Had I been at work, I think I would have gotten respect from sailors everywhere *winks*

Outfit Breakdown:
Striped Top: Torrid
Sweater: Torrid
Belt: Torrid
Pencil Skirt: Dorothy Perkins
Shoes: Michael Shannon (Off Broadway Shoes)

DOTD: Positively Bright and Gimpy

So... if you've been following my tweets this weekend you already know that I popped my achilles tendon and am now on crutches. What is more spectacular about it all, is I actually injured my ankle about 2 weeks ago, walked on it (in mainly wedges because it was less pain) and suffered through. Well, Friday it all came to a head. I could feel my pulse in my ankle and I wanted to DIE... so off to emergent care we went (we being hubby and I).

I was subsequently put in a air cast thing and put on crutches and pain meds. The pain meds make me loopy and great fun. My husband has been taking advantage of my happy nature when I'm drugged out of my gord... but who can blame him. I haven't been the best company as of late with all the drama at work. Which to make life all that much better, it is finally coming to an end. My last day here will be on Friday... after which time I will be taking legal action. So I will keep you posted. But for now... enjoy my week of outfits with the boot. Next week I will take it off for my pics and then put it on. As time is of the essence currently... I don't have time for the camoflage prior to work. Well as always... here is my outfit... honest opinions... I jumped in whole heartedly with a little bit of floral and a little bit of bow trends thrown in for good measure :)

Outfit Breakdown:
Dress: Dots
Tube top (under dress): MaxRave
Shrug: Lane Bryant
Bow belt: Torrid
Necklace: Vibrant Artwear
Earrings: Dots
Ring: Torrid
Bracelets: Torrid
Shoes: Payless

OOTD: Again with the Teal & Brown

Okay this outfit I already have done something similiar here. But I today I did it with much more comfortable pants. And with a longer shirt. I am not calling it a Diva of the Day (DOTD) because my hair is having some kind of wierd Donald Trump comb-over look. Its awful... and I fixed it at work... but I didn't update the pictures. Yesterday I was pretty darn sick (food poisoning)... missed an interview (thank God he saw me today)and I generally just had a bad day...

So today... althought I'm still weak and tired and not 100%, I feel better. I went to my interview (albeit not in my normal interview clothing) and think it went well. So all in all, I may still work here... just not in this department. Pray for me!!!

Do you think my outfit messed up my chances for this job (keep in mind I had a pair of closed toe shoes in my truck i switched into)?

Outfit Breakdown:
Tank: Wal-Mart
Button-down top: Curve Appeal Consignments
Pants: New York and Company
Shoes: Kate Preston (Off Broadway Shoes)
Necklace: Gifted
Bracelets: Torrid
Earrings: Beauty Supply Store

P.S. How much are you LOVING my makeup... I definately am!!!!

DOTD: Moving Day (at work)

So today I need to move from one office to another (the joy of getting promoted), am dressed in jeans on a Tuesday to accomplish this task. But could I do jeans in the middle of a work week and not DIVA it up... absolutely NOT!!! So today I decided to go with my "Power" color and a splash of sunshine yellow. I did one pic in the flats I would wear to move offices, and the other is in the stilettos I began the day with. I can’t convey how much skinny jeans have become a staple in my closet. How did I ever avoid them before now?

Opinions my lovely divas?

Outfit Breakdown:
Button down top: Wal-mart
Tube top: MaxRave
Belt: Dots (came with another dress)
Skinny Jeans: Torrid
Red Stilettos: Charlotte Russe
Yellow Flats: Wal-Mart
Jewelry: Beauty Supply Store

P.S. As I am now leaving for the day. I didn't move a darn thing... so on Thursday I get to move it all while dressed up... HOW FUN!!!

OOTD: Pre-Valentine Vamp & Latin Lover Swagger

As today starts Valentine’s weekend, I decided to start my romantic vacation with something fun. I wanted to wear red (which is my power color). So I used some items I recently purchased to draw eyes to the sexy body I love. I would never recommend anything this low-cut if you are not a cleavage person. You can achieve the exact same look with a higher cut cami or tank. Also, it is rare that I wear flats (as my ankles are shot and heels are all that are comfortable) but when I wear them, it is to make a particular fashion statement. I love black & white polka dots with red accents, it’s like they were meant to be together. This Valentine’s Day, have fun with your outfit.

Even if you’re doing a single girls night out, make sure all eyes are on you. As most people seem to be drawn to red, maybe go with another color you see a lot of during this season. Pink, Gold, White, or you can be the only person wearing Blue or Purple in a sea of Red. That is a fashion statement within itself.

I would love you to comment and tell me what your V-day outfit will include.

Outfit Breakdown:
Top – No label (don’t remember where purchased)
Cami - Wal-Mart
Skinny Jeans – Torrid (recent haul)
Belt – Torrid (recent haul)
Earrings – Flea Market
Polka Dot Ballerinas – Payless Shoesource

Hubby Outfit Breakdown:
Underlayer Top (Teal)  - Affliction
Overlayer Top (Black) - BKE (Buckle Inc)
Jeans - Hurley Icon Jean
Belt - Fossil
Shoes - Nike Shox
** everything he is wearing was purchased at Buckle (minus the shoes)

Isn't he SEXY?!!!!!
