DOTD: Shake Rattle & Roll

Today… DC had an earthquake. My first earthquake… and I have to admit to you… my readers… I was a straight punk. I started panicking like a crazy person. My boss (Pecana) had to tell me to calm down but that didn’t work that well because then I couldn’t get in contact with anyone in my family. The entire office made fun of me later. I have to admit… I wasn’t that tough during the situation…. eh… I was a girl (a big newborn baby girl… but a girl nonetheless). But I can now cross off “earthquake” off my bucket list. lmao.

Today was also the first day of school (an earthquake in itself) and I was estatic. They have been in my house all summer during the day eating me out of house and home and now they are going to school and doing something other than making me insane. I always say I’m happy when they go to school… but this year was by far the happiest of all the years. My baby girl also will begin full day kindergarten which is also awesome. Tomorrow I have tons of errands to run and I’m happy for that too. Because for the first time… I am organized for the school year. I have my calendar color coordinated (also the idea of Pecana) and I have a shopping and to do list app that is amazing. I’m proud of myself…

Anyway… this outfit was fun to wear… I felt like my old self in this outfit. Confident and sexy. Not that this was a super sexy outfit… I can’t even tell you why I loved this so much… It probably had everything to do with the top… but who knows. Today was a good day. I also think my blog will slowly be going back to its former fashion glory (but don’t hold me to that in case I get lazy)… but I need your help. I have to do a post with movies and/or television as the theme… what would you like to see me reduplicate (yes… that is my word… I made it up… copyright pending… lmao)? You know I can’t afford anything new… so please make the pieces workable around what I already own. I am thinking Clueless, Devil Wears Prada, and Drop Dead Diva… what do you think?

Church Diva: A Sunshine Combination

I saw this dress on clearance at ASOS Curve and I knew I had to have it. And I knew it would go AWESOMELY with my Shoedazzle shoes that I don’t wear nearly enough. I have to admit… this outfit came out MUCH better than even I thought it would. And if you haven’t noticed… I changed my hair yet again… because the definition of Diva is keeping you on your toes (at least in my fashion dictionary that is part of the definition). Whitney Houston kept you guessing with her hair (even when she was a crack head) so I guess I am just changing who I see in the mirror on a daily basis… IMG_0266

Today was a great sermon. I think that Sunday is really my favorite day of the week. I am working on being a better person and this keeps me grounded and surrounded by like minded people. My reverend leaves soon for Iraq… so I will be on serious prayer patrol because he has to come back safe and sound because he is a father figure to me. I have a father but I like having a father figure who is also guiding me spiritually. Who doesn’t… right?

So this week has kinda sucked. No real reason why it did… it just… did. Have a lot on my mind and a lot to figure out in regards to my future and my family. Nothing depressing… just gotta find my path… which is easier said than done. I feel like I am becoming unplugged to fashion which is my only release. Fashion keeps me from going postal and killing everyone and lately… I feel disconnected. I feel like I am not wowing anyone… least of all myself. And if I can’t wear it or combine outfits in style… I bore myself… and I don’t want to bore you either… anyway… I wish I could make fashion my career… but I don’t see a way to include that in my plan without spending a great deal of time away from my children. And that… is NOT an option. Well, that is life as a parent and wife… Compromise. I wish I could be like those people you hear about on T.V. who quit their jobs as lawyers and open a restaurant or catering business. That unfortunately requires money… money that I don’t have… so… eh…

Ok… onto to the fun stuff… FASHION!!! I know I always ask a question… but right now… I got nothing… so feel free to say or ask anything in the comments you would like me to answer.

ShoeDay Saturday: Blogger or Bust

I am really really trying to blog more…. but this week SUCKED. It rained every time it seemed that I attempted to take pics. And on the day that it didn’t rain, I looked a hot mess. So needless to say… you got nothing. So today I am going to see if I can’t get some pictures of the outfits that I am hoping to wear this week today (not likely as I am rarely motivated these days) but I will try my best. But I figured I would resume my features so that you know that I do care.

I love shoes. I am the designated shoe whisperer to anyone who knows me. I can make any outfit different with just a change of shoes and accessories… so I constantly stay on shoe sites to find something I will like… I figure going forward my gift to myself will be one pair a shoes a month (if I can afford it) or a heel condom so that I can get more bang for my buck. And then get crazy with making my outfits “different”. I love Heels.com! because they have such a diverse class of shoes. I can get casual, dressy, or just plain original shoes from them. Sometimes at a high cost… but I know my feet will demand attention. Here is what I found today…

DOTD: All The Best Intentions

So yesterday… I was so excited about my outfit and the post I was going to give you guys. I was going to show you that my fashion hadn’t completely died…. then… I left my camera at work and didn’t get one single photo of my outfit… totally devastated… why because today I’m wearing something so similar to something else I’ve already worn… that it’s not likely to wow when I’ve been gone so long.

So since I haven’t really been posting I thought I would let you know that I’m still working and I still love my job. Everyday I learn something new… Pecana (the boss) is still teaching me each day. She is super sweet and grounded and that makes me want to continue to be a better person. Work wife has been under stress lately and I just want to hug her until all her problems disappear… wouldn’t that be cool? If a hug could erase all your stress? We have been generally alone in the office as a big project has taken Jefa out of the office along with the only guy in the office (usually…) Duke (not his real name but a play on his name and he cracks me up). So that wasn’t really much but hey life is going well… so here is the important thing…

Things are looking up with hubby. Seems like we are getting back to where we were before January. Are we perfect, not by a long shot but I love the effort he puts forth (most days). And I try to control my “nagging” and my contempt with… well… generally everything. I just want to make the best of a situation… because here is something that I learned while we were 100% separated… Dating is hard, the pickings out there… suck, and well… I still love my husband. So if it means I have to compromise a lot more than I generally want to… or I don’t have to scream out every error or flaw… than I can do that… just to keep what I have rather to move onto something that is not a 3rd of what I currently have…. Does that make sense? Are you single or married? If you’re single, does dating give you a case of hives as it did for me? Would you work with someone is who is not perfect in order to avoid dealing with these sorry excuse for men out there? Do you have a horrible dating experience… would you share it in the comments? I would love to know what everyone else has experienced. Now onto the fashion… lol
