Amelia: A Dress for Ladies Who Brunch…

The name of the dress is Amelia and while I wore this dress, I felt like all I needed was a Mother’s Day Brunch to make the look complete.

The original look I really wanted to achieve didn’t happen because the pieces didn’t cooperate (such as the flower & belt), but I feel like the dress speaks for it self. Lucie Lu sent me this dress to review and they have such great items that it was hard to wait for it to be uploaded to the website before I could wear it. The top is made of a t-shirt material that is soft and comfortable against the skin. The bottom of the dress is lace with a black underskirt (not sure of the fabric but it is also soft and breathable). So here is the “official” review…

Pros:

    1. The bottom is made of lace (LACE people!!!). If you’ve been to my blog more than once, you know how I feel about lace. It’s like the fabric of my life (not cotton).
    2. It’s silver/gray/black. Which makes it great base to do anything with. It means I can add any shoe, blazer/sweater, or flower and still the outfit is amazing.
    3. The shoulder applique makes takes it up a notch and keeps it from being boring and gives you something to offset the lace.

Cons:

    1. Ummmm…. thinking…. ummm… oh… due to my unexpected weight loss, it’s a size too big.

Indecent Top Exposure: A Top Post

I can honestly say that when I shop I gravitate towards dresses, blazer/cardigans, skirts, pants, and lastly… tops. Which is ridiculous because then I end up like I am currently with a closet full of clothing and like 4 tops. Its rather sad. I sometimes sit back and shake my head at my lopsided wardrobe. If I were to dress myself based on what I currently have… I’d get arrested for leaving my house in my bra… I’d be covered everywhere else… but I am seriously lacking good tops.

So now that I know I need tops I am in this place where I have to figure out what I want to fill my closet with. I don’t want boring pieces… I want pieces that I can wear multiple ways and dress up and dress down. So… I went onto the Bonmarche Plus Size Women Tops website to give you an idea of the types of items I want need…

Lace Tops…
Okay you can say what you want… but if I have 3 choices and one of them is lace… there is a 90% chance I’ll pick the lace top just because its lace. I have an addiction to lace and at this point in my life… there is nothing more I can do about it (I’m already taking pills and getting injections lol).

Lace Back Top

Tunic Tops…
When I’m running late and don’t want to have to think too hard, or when I am wearing leggings… I want a top that is long enough to cover up the lumpy parts…. lol but is also unique enough to stand ground on its own. The tunics I lean towards also need to hold its shape. So I could use a ton of tunics in my life.

Tops that no one has…
Lastly but not least… I love to own a top that I haven’t seen on others… because then it because a statement all on its own as everyone stops to ask where I got it. Those kind of pieces make hours searching for the right top… all worth while.

When you shop, what kind of tops do you gravitate towards? Would you purchase any of the tops above? If so, which one speaks the most to you? Have you stopped by Bonmarche to check out what they have to offer? Did I miss something you would have loved that I had mentioned?

Sizes To Fit Review: Lacey without Cagney

I think I’ve mentioned about a million times how much I love lace… well when I saw this jacket, I instantly fell in love. Sizes to Fit sent it to me to allow me an opportunity to review it.

The Item I reviewed: Lace Motorcycle Jacket - $35.99

0031699

The Review: This jacket doesn’t currently zip… because well I am top heavy. And its a bit snug on my arms, but that doesn’t change the love I have for this. I have large arms and I know it will probably fit better on others with human sized arms. The entire jacket is lace material and when I had it on, many people asked me where I had purchased it, so that let me know that it would be popular to others. I realize it will be great for spring and fall as it doesn’t do much to block the elements. But if you are just wearing this to complete an outfit (as I did) it won’t matter that it doesn’t stop the wind.

Lucie Lu Review: Taryn up the place

Okay, being a blogger is great and I love it more than anything. But what I really love is that it allows me to reinvent outfits that didn’t quite work the first time. That has nothing to do with this review. But its something I wanted to mention. I also love the items that I get to review because it helps extend an otherwise boring closet. As you already know, I love Lucie Lu and her clothing. I love the materials used in her clothing. This month Lucie Lu provided me with this tunic. This tunic comes in a lace print and I have to say… I love love love love lace. The print, the fabric, the sexiness of it.

The item reviewed: Taryn Tunic-Lace Print - $48.00

The Review: The material feels like a much softer, stretchy sweatshirt material. Its comfy and it’s long. So if you wanted to wear this to work with leggings or tights without upsetting your co-workers, this would be a great addition to your closet. The lace pattern is hot for me because I am a huge fan of lace. I love that its sleeveless because I can wear it with blazers and with my lace jacket (review coming soon) with out sweating. I also love love love the big pockets. I won’t put anything in them but my hands, but I still love them.

If you haven’t purchased from Lucie Lu yet… NOW is the time to do so. She has a great number of great fall pieces I would love to add to my wardrobe, so I know you will feel the same.

And if you haven’t purchased yet… what in the heck are you waiting for?

Getting to the next level... Bloggery Edgamacation

Recently I learned from two great twitter icons @kimmoy and @vactress that there are ways to maximize my blog and earn a return from all the shopping and spending I am doing. I have this blog that I love and through which I have met some great people but is there more I can be doing. So, I followed the advice of these longtime bloggers and went in search of sponsors. And on my side panel you can find 3 companies that I support and use... often... and trust...

Maurices - is a company owned by DressBarn. And since you can't buy DressBarn items online, Maurices is the next best thing. They have a plus size section with very cute dresses (I really love dresses) but they have some SUPER cute skirts and camis that I can't wait to get my hands on. The closest location to my home is in York, PA. But I smell a road trip so that I can show off some items on the blog. They are now having a sale until Thursday BOGO 50% off Dressy Tops and Bottoms thru 5.06 @ maurices.com

Torrid - I'm not surprised that I was accepted. I mean this year alone I've tallied almost 900 Diva points. I love their clothes and their accessories. I will continue to be honest about my purchases from this. There are items I love, and others... not so much... but no retailer is perfect... even though to me Torrid is close. Not to mention... Hubby loves their clothes. **BONUS** Get 10% Off your Entire Purchase at Torrid.com - Use code 4AF10OFF at checkout! Valid until May 15

Silkies - Okay... YEARS ago... my mom got me hooked on silkies. A hosiery company that delivers to your home on your schedule... AWESOME. Not to mention that I LOVE their tights. They are extra spandex-y (its a word... I promise) and have great control. They also have skin Enriche Ageless Moisturizer which I've tried and it makes your face feel all firm. They have a promotion for Get $10 Off your next Silkies order of $50 or more.

I have applications in for 2 additional vendors but as above it is only for companies I love and believe in... I will always let you know if any pieces I wear are purchased or recieved as part of my sponsorship. I am also opening this up so that lessor known clothing companies and makeup companies can contact me if they would like me to do a review of anything they are selling. As I am unemployed and have much more time to devote to this blog, I really want to make it my "CAREER". I don't want you to feel like you have to use my links in order to make all purchases, I would just hope that if you see me in something you like and it causes you to make a purchase, you will do so from my site. I appreciate all my readers and the time you take to come by here daily and show me some love.

Editted to update:

Since posting this post... 3 more have come in...

Yours Clothing - So in love with their clothes. My first order will arrive next week I believe.... my first pair of jeggings... will definately post it to my blog. You know how I love to be honest and show my flaws. So it will be great... I will keep you posted on any coupon codes I get and post it to my blog. :)

Charlotte Russe - Love their shoes  and clothes. They really need a plus size line (SERIOUSLY) but I heard a rumor that it was in the works. So I will live with their accessories and shoes for now. But for the few of us who are on the small side of plus size. And those who aren't plus sized at all... they are running a special - Five: Find $5 Favorite Tees & Tanks through Wednesday 5/12 at CharlotteRusse.com.

Alloy - Super cute dresses and shoes. Just got the newest catalog the other day. Trying to decide if I am bold enough to purchase their shoes in a 10 as some size 10 shoes I can wear. They have some SUPER hot sandals and peep toes this year. I would love to get atleast 5 dresses. Expect a "Lo Quiero Ahora" post on some of their items soon. 15% Off ANY Alloy Order with code A15CPN
