DOTD: Color Me Happy

Hola Divas…
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

So I am writing this post from the comfort of my hotel room in Richmond Virginia. I am dealing with a lot at work and I am trying my best to not let all the negativity get to me. I am finding that some people will find the negative in anything. Which is why I’m making a late new year resolution about finding the positive in everything. I know it will be hard but negativity is like a cancer. It wears you down and kills your spirit. It is toxic and I don’t want it near my life any more. I know that may not be much of a resolution, but it is becoming apparent that if you see the positive in everything… sometimes… eventually everything is positive.
So what has everyone losing it at work. Well, the company I work for has been bought by a larger company. And I want to see the bright side of it, but everyone is killing my vibe with their negativity. I just want to focus on my job and do it to the best of my ability. I won’t spend my time speculating on the “what ifs”. I just want to make sure my checks keep coming, and my company keeps moving forward. That is my ONLY concern… the rest will work itself out. Anyway… onto the fashion…
The last time I wore this skirt, I wore it with with a pink top which I loved… but I really wanted to wear it with a yellow top. And since I don’t own a yellow top… I decided a yellow (mustard) scarf was the next best thing. I know this isn’t fancy, but I like how it turned out. My lastest package from Gwynnie Bee didn’t come in time for my trip, so I had to make what I already had work overtime. I love going on travel, however, I hate packing. I always forget something. This time it was deodorant and my hair oil for my edges. Bleh. Doesn’t matter… I bought some deodorant and I am happy. I really am… I woke up this morning in a glorious mood. And I have to admit… its the beginning of what great things… I am certain of it…  But before I leave you…  How often do you travel? Do you have a fail safe way to travel so you don’t forget anything? Does your fashionista still shine or do you pack the bare mininums? Welll… I’m glad I got the first post of the year out of the way… Hasta la proxima ~besitos~
P.S. I actually wore the wedges to work today and will wear the oxfords tomorrow with an alternate outfit

DOTD: Mustard on a Black & White Cookie

Hola Divas…
I got these boots.  And when I got these boots I couldn’t imagine how I was going to wear them. Then last night, this outfit came to me and the excitement of trying it out was making me crazy. Then I had to figure out a way to take the pictures when hubby is not around. So I apologize if the quality of these pictures is horrible. I tried to focus as best I could. I just got home (at 9pm…) and I didn’t sleep last night… so even though I want to write a whole post on the Potluck we had at work today… all I can think about is my pillow…

So I am trying to keep up blogging but with the holidays coming, the hours I’m working, and the lack of sleep… I don’t know how well I will do in the coming weeks. How do you think you will make it through the holidays? Do you have anything special planned? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Spikes & Leopard

Hola Divas,
That title sounds like some strange S&M club that you have to get a blood test to join. LOL. Anyway, I was super excited about this outfit and then NONE of the pictures turned out. Either I didn’t include the shoes, or it was blurry, or I looked like I was about to commit a murder (meaning I wasn’t smiling) or there is a dumpster in the background. Anyway… I’m hoping that you can see the premise of this outfit. Meaning that I wanted to show how I tied the pieces together and how I got to finally wear my first pair of shoes from LolaShoetique. These shoes are fierce!!! Also, if you follow me on twitter or instagram or facebook… you know I cut my hair… if you do not… then you are seeing my hair cut for the first time. Yes it looks like it did when I would pull it back… but now it has purpose… lol

Another exciting thing about today is a coworker hired me to style her for the fall. Which says that she trusts my ability and thinks I know a little something something about fashion. I posted 2 of the ideas I created for her below on my blog. Future ideas won’t be included on my blog as she wants it to be solely for her. I get it… I strive to be original even if I am using someone else’s look for inspiration. As with anything, we want to put our own spin on it.

I have very little else going on in my life other than work and family. So… in the weeks that I haven’t blogged… What have I missed? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Golden Cobalt

I wanted to write this awesome post… but I just finished working and I am pooped. So I wanted to put today’s outfit up on the blog so you guys can see that I am completely serious about blogging regularly (its easier to do it as much as possible and then less later).

I wanted my boobs to look less humungous in this dress but I do love the way the colors came together. I love mustard… and cobalt… why not wear then together.

What did you wear today? How was your day today? Have you done any great shopping lately? If so, what did you buy? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~

DOTD: Not Quite As I Had Imagined…

I love these pants… I love this top… and they are both from Alloy but what I am not particularly happy how these pictures turned out… I look so… LUMPY… I know I am lumps and bumps… but I was hoping the pictures would have been a bit more polished. Hey… you can’t win them all and they all can’t be magazine worthy photoshoots… but I promised Bigg Badd Wolf (Notorious Zag) that I would post this outfit. So here it is…

You can’t really see the shoes but they are my patent leather mary janes… and I just love how this outfit looked in my head… So I’m going to just live with those images. But I need my readers to know that I’m not so vain that I can’t post my imperfections… I even have a picture of me trying to pose and it going TERRIBLY TERRIBLY WRONG!!! LMAO!!

How was your day today? Would you post pictures of yourself looking ridiculous on your blog? Do you love the color “mustard” as much as I do? Has the fall weather brought out your creative side yet?

DOTW: With only mustard… thanks

I guess this week’s version of Divas of the Week is based on my Monday post. I love mustard and I wanted to highlight some ladies who wore mustard recently. I can’t honestly say they were all this week because I haven’t done this in a few weeks…  but I wanted to be sure to do this post before I forgot… (yes my memory is that bad)

My friend Jennifer from Stop!! You’re Broke wore a mustard sweater with brown pieces which I instantly loved. I think that the brown fishnets really really kick it up a notch… madly in love with her take on some of these pieces… Don’t you just love it?!!!

Here is my friend Kameel of Mrs Hall In Training and after I wore my eshakti dress I started thinking what other colors I could wear with the dress. And fuchsia was the first color that jumped into my head. Now that I’ve seen it on someone else… I’m certain I want to try my dress with fuchsia. Doesn’t she look fabulous?!!

Here is Karla wearing a mustard colored shirt… I love the scarf that was added to this rather simple but totally trendy look. I love her site: Karla’s Closet. Her style is so effortless sometimes and it just gives me a bar I want to reach in the plus size community. I want to inspire others like I’m sure she does to many people… Doesn’t this make you want to add more mustard to your closet…

Here is CeCe from LoveBrownSugar who is rocking this mustard top with folded bf jeans which in itself is super hot in my book… but when you add the shoes… it kicks it up to super crazy trendy fabulous!!! Are you as jealous of this outfit as I am?!!!

I know I normally include 5 divas each week… but I am like totally tired or something shiny has distracted me… who knows… Remember if you see someone totally fabulous during the week, let me know so I can get them included in next weeks post…
Let’s share the love divas ~besitos~

eShakti Review: Take a Bow

Last month when everyone was posting happy about their mustard pieces in their closets, I realized two things… 1) I really love the color. Its darker than yellow but its still bright and makes you think “Fall/Autumn” ready   2) I do not own any mustard colored pieces… at all. So I decided that I would rectify that and decided to go with the dress you see below from eShakti. I was a little worried because I’ve seen some size issues on the web. And some other issues regarding the finished product, but I knew this dress had to be mine. So I jumped past my fear and decided this dress would be mine. When it arrived last week, I was almost afraid to try it on. But when I did, I knew that this would end up being one of my favorite dresses. Its made of some type of knit fabric, its a wonderful length… and the bow belt… I was sold. I know now that I will have additional pieces in my wardrobe soon… but for now… I am ecstatic that I began with this dress. Get it here: Surplice front knit shirtdress
Best things about this dress:
  1. The material
  2. The color
  3. The bow belt
  4. The fact that there is no belt loop. I feel like with each dress or top that comes with a belt I spend hours of my life cutting loops off items.
  5. Boobie space: I have ample bosom… and yet… there they are… nicely tucked away from site.
  6. length: I really wanted to be able to wear this to work… and this is so a work dress
I finished off the look with my fishnet tights (small fishnet holes), leopard print earrings, black necklace and my ShoeDazzle bow boots. I love the end result… Opiniones?
