DOTD and She's Got Curves Shoe Review

Where have I been? You know I can't even explain what it going on with me. My head is SOOO not in the game. So for the month of July I am going to be doing posts on businesses and other bloggers. I may do a few outfit posts if I feel up to it.

Currently I have no A/C and as the heat hits the 100s I am trying to wear as little clothing as possible, and I am not always guaranteed to be cute. So at the end of July when my air is up to working condition, I hope to return to old self.

Here is the pics of my outfit from Sunday, and the shoes I will review below the pictures...

Outfit Breakdown:
Dress: Curve Appeal Consignment
Earrings: Beauty Supply
Black Necklaces: Wal-Mart
Red Necklace: New York Street Fair
Shoes: She's Got Curves

Review:  These red shoes I fell in love with the moment I saw the picture of them on the site. Then on Friday, hubby saw a picture of the shoes and said "You need those shoes, they are soo sexy". I of course informed him that I had already recieved these shoes from the great and fabulous owner of shesgotcurves.com

So here is the real deal about the shoes. I don't think the heel is sturdy. I am tentative for walking in them. But that may just be me. The longer I wore them the better I walked in them, because I knew not to bear all my weight on the shoe. So it just may be that the shoe was not intended for my plus size frame. Also, I would reheel the shoe as the stiletto heel keep sticking to the pavement, and I find that happens with cheaper tips put on the heels.

Now on to the positive, I love the shoes because they are unique and stylish. I was told multiple times in one day how HOT these shoes are, and that is one of the reasons I loved them. Not made for running errands but it is a great dress up shoe. Will I buy a shoe from them again? YES. Will I buy other items from them? Yes!

I was sent a maxi dress along with these shoes and I hope to review it this week. I think that this small retailer has the fashions and the customer service to make it to the next level. I would love it if my followers would help her along the way.

How do you sleep at night knowing that your husband works two jobs and all you do is pout about your life on life on the internet all day?

My husband doesn't work two jobs... not to mention... I am not pouting about my life... other than being unemployed... my life is pretty awesome...

Felt this formspring question was worth posting... simply hilarious...

Lucie Lu Review: Queen of Purple Tie-Dye

My Full Figure Fashion Week experience wasn’t that great for me… but one thing about that night was amazing… MY DRESS!!!

My friends Kelly (left) and Trish (right) - I did Kelly's makeup
and she borrowed my red necklace. Her look is a result of my
styling abilities.

Lucie Lu provided me with a beautiful dress. They have a similar dress on their site, but I feel fortunate to have an original (so far). Mine is a Purple Tie-Dye variety that isn’t available on her site. Similar varieties are available and their links are below, just click the color.

The Dress: Honor Dress (Purple Tie Dye) - $52.00

Colors available: Black, Emerald, Amethyst

The Review: This is not much of a review, its more of list of why I love this dress. It’s loose and comfortable and was perfect for walking around in New York. You can slightly see my bra… but I am on the search for a bra that is not as full cup like… lol. But I digress; the dress has a great crochet and lace detail on the cap sleeves and the back. I was madly in love with this dress the moment it arrived.

To give a little background, she originally asked me if I wanted the above dress or the all black Tatum Dress. My husband picked the black dress, but everyone I asked (including a neighbor) said… black? Nope. My neighbor actually said “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in a black dress, do you own one?” lmao. That sealed the deal, and hubby soon changed his vote. So the purple dress it was. Lucie Lu wasn’t sure she would have in it time, but fortunately, it made it just in time.

The material is stretchy and bra section had just enough room. I was thrilled as I almost went with a 2x, and I think I would be spilling out of that size (even more so than I am now *winks*)

I did not try this dress without a bra because let’s be real… it wasn’t going to work. I’m not sure how this look would work for smaller chested women, I would be interested in knowing how it fit if you did purchase it. It is long dress that came below the knee which makes it a great dress for work (if worn with a blazer or tee underneath) and you could pull any color out of the dress because I see shades of blue, tan, and purple. Or you could play it safe with a black shoe. I decided to wear it with a lace shoe since the detail on the back was lace. I felt so pretty that night.

I don’t have a coupon code for Lucie Lu, but I will be contacting her to find out if there is one, and I will keep you posted. If you haven’t purchased from her yet… NOW is the time to do so.
Me above rockin' my dress in front of the David Letterman sign, and in front of the
lights of  Times Square... Awesome night, and the only pics I have of me in the dress.

So tell me, have you have purchased anything from them yet, if so what did you buy?!!

Full Figure Fashion Week Finale Event - from the unfamous side

Imagine you are unemployed and you get offered the chance of a lifetime. It is your first year as a blogger and you are going to not only wear a sponsor retailer, you are going to attend the Finale Event in their place with VIP tickets. Now also imagine you have a husband and 3 kids and you take what is left of your savings account to make a trip to New York you can’t afford, happen regardless of your finances.

I won’t make this post about my trip to New York because there were actual parts of my trip that were awesome and I won’t confuse that post with this one. This post is about the Fatshion Industry. This is has to be said and addressed immediately.

I remember being about 24 when I realized that my size didn’t mean that I wasn’t beautiful. And then in my 30s I really put some eggs in the fashion and beauty basket and found that it made me happy, so I ran with it by styling others, blogging, and writing articles. However, recently, there has been some bad behavior amongst us fatshionistas, and I know my story isn’t the only one like this. I have to say that this undercutting and idea stealing and just general bad behavior shouldn’t be tolerated. I don’t understand why there seems to be more fighting and pettiness amongst us then in the regular size fashion industry. Haven’t we suffered enough? Haven’t we been picked on and prosecuted enough to only want the best for the others who are like us?

That was a preamble to let you know that at Full Fashion Week, I did not have a good time. The fashion was wonderful, but I watched US eyeball each other like we were ugly and dirty. I saw people ignore others, and I experienced firsthand being pushed aside for a model who wanted to speak to someone else while I was there already having a conversation. That is just plain rude, in the words of my girl Maine (Charmaine) “Where they do that at?” When did that behavior start being tolerated… by anyone? Then to make this event an even more shit storm… I find that waiting in line to have my picture taken didn’t mean that your picture would actually be included among the “beautiful” people. Apparently they decided to post pics of who they felt should be posted. I do understand that I could just contact this man for copies of my pics, but why should I have to? Why would I want to give my hard earned money to a man who didn’t deem ME important enough to be in the initial sets of prints? Not to mention I was not only wearing a dress from a sponsor but I was also there on her behave. If I were the actual retailer, I would keep my money next year.

I've been told multiple times this week that this industry is like high school and there are cliques, well… I am too old for this shyte… and I won’t support an event or person that tolerates people to be excluded based on no actual reason other than they aren’t “FAMOUS” enough…

Seriously trying to decide if next years event is worth me making the effort to attend.

I am curious to hear your opinions or what you would have done in my situation. Do you think that I am overreacting?

Sizes to Fit Review: Indie Cindy

Indie Cindy: The term coined by a UK band called Hadouken. They mention the term Indie Cindy in their lyrics to their song, That Boy That Girl. "That girl's an Indie Cindy, Lego haircut and polka-dot dress, I don't care if she thinks she's indie, How she's different is anyones guess." An Indie Cindy is described as a girl with painted eyebrows, lego haircut, wears a polka-dot dress, carries a shiny red handbag that matches her shiny red shoes, is spotted at indie night clubs, pouts while dancing or posing for pics, wears glowsticks, goes to Klaxons gigs, idolizes The Pipettes or Karen O, and loves the following: mascara, vodka and coke, pink, the 50's, skinny boys, kitsch, MySpace and NME.

Now I know that I don't have painted eyebrows or a "lego haircut" (whatever that is) but I am wearing a polka-dot dress with red shoes. If I did have a red clutch... it would be in the photo too. I do pout while posing for pics. I love mascara (big surprise), vodka (sans coke), pink, the 40s & 50s, skinny boys (have you seen my husband?), and Facebook/Twitter (seriously, is anyone using MySpace anymore?).

So the point of all that is that I am finally doing the review for my favorite dress of the 3 dresses from Sizes To Fit. This is a polka dot dress that I found when I was doing my polka dot trend article for Examiner.com. I love this dress…

The Dress: Sash DOT Bustier Dress- $19.99 (that’s the actual price!!!)

The Review: This is not as much of a review as it is a testament to how much I love this dress. It’s loose, and comfortable and just made for a day walking around in the heat. I added a sweater because my boobs are just not made for some dresses. I did get compliments on the dress while I was wearing it today. I also had a few heads turn and I always assume head turning is positive.

The material is stretchy and the hips have pockets so it perfect for the trendy lady on the go. It has a red sash so it’s already aiding you on your way to completing the look. I love polka dots and red. Actually I love polka dots and any color. So if this ever comes in other colors for the sash, I will definitely purchase. This dress makes me want to buy other dresses that are equally similar. I loved how I felt all day. Even if you’re not a polka dot person, this dress will certainly change you mind.

I did not try this dress without a bra because let’s be real… it wasn’t going to work. It does have padding in the top so for some smaller-chested ladies, it will probably suffice. It is short, but if I had some red leggings, I would have done the legging look, but I feel it was fine just as is.

I wanted to remind you all that the owner of Sizes to Fit is offering my awesome readers a coupon code that is valid until the end of July: DDT0710 for 10% off your entire order at Sizes to Fit!

So tell me, have you have purchased anything from them yet?!!

DOTD: Hostage Is a Crucifying Aloneness

Today I did not leave my house at all. But I realize that I have been lacking on the outfit posts lately and I need to get it together. What's funny is that I have been getting dressed, only I forget to take photos. So today I made an effort...
Stiletto Siren told me to wear orange, so I decided to mix two not commonly seen colors. Orange & fuschia. Maybe the colors are together often, but I don't see them together nearly enough. In my previous post is the youtube video of my makeup.

Outfit Breakdown:
Tank: Old Navy
Tee: Dots
Jeggings: Faith21
Shoes: Dollhouse (Journeys)
Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory
(Sexy) Earrings: Beauty Supply Store

(For makeup breakdown, see post below)

Fuschia & Orange Blend Eye Tutorial

I have no idea if my videos are getting better, worse, or the same. Any feedback you want to leave on the video would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all of your support!!!

Sizes to Fit Review: I'll Be Steppin' Out Into The Irresistible Future

As you may recall, I was provided by the great folks at Sizes To Fit, 3 dresses that I could review on my blog, and the first of which I reviewed here. I really enjoyed the original post and this one was fun as well.

As the second dress on the review tour, I went with this black tube dress that originally came with a rose belt. I decided the belt wasn’t part of how I was feeling so I decided to remove it and go for another look. Not to mention I am not "stomachly fit" to wear this dress with just the belt. I see some crunches in my future.

The Dress: Millenium Bustier Dress Rose Belt - $19.99 (that’s the actual price!!!)

The Review: Again I must reiterate I am not afraid of showing a little cleavage or a little leg. This dress is for those who aren't afraid to show some skin as it comes a bit above the knee (I’m 5’8) and the cleavage show is ample. But I think it is super cute and sexy. The material is stretchy and comfortable. Sitting down was a task but I was able to accomplish it. I liked the feel of the dress but it is not a office dress. It is definitely for a night on the town. I decided to team it up with a teal sweater and stilettos so that I can cover “my jiggly parts” but still have a pop of color.

As with the previous dress, I attempted to wear this dress sans bra… I looked like a crackhead prostitute. All my goodies were a step away from being on display. Below you will see that I have on my normal strapless bra and that is the look that it accomplished.

My husband is not a fan of this dress because he feels too much is out. He felt that the dress was too small, in general. I would probably wear this dress in a layering situation. Or I may get the sides of the boobs taken out. I haven’t decided yet.

So to recap, the stretch is great, the dress is comfortable, and the price is super affordable. It could be a bit longer, but I assume the dress may be for a younger age group.

I wanted to remind you all that the owner of Sizes to Fit is offering my awesome readers a coupon code that is valid until the end of July: DDT0710 for 10% off your entire order at Sizes to Fit!

Now go check them out and the super cute new additions that have just arrived. If you decide to purchase, let me know what you will buy!!

Diva Spotlight: Diva Tootsicle

Since I started doing this feature, it always surprises me the creativity and just sheer pose these divas portray. Today's Diva is no different, as she has been a friend of mine for years. We met via the LJ Fatshionista community, and I love her to pieces. She is so creative and has no fear about what she wears. That in itself makes her a true Diva. To me, she takes more risks than Beth Ditto, but she isn't in a huge band so she does not get as much exposure. That is why I love the "Diva Spotlight", it gives everyone the opportunity to highlight whatever outfit they wish. Again, you can be spotlighted as many times as you like, just send me the pics and the info...

Now its time to shine the spotlight on... Diva Tootsicle

Dress, Self Made (Tootsicle Original)
Shoes, Kenneth Cole Reaction (gifted)
Ring, Torrid
Batwing Jacket, Simply Fashions

This is one of my favorite outfits lately. The entire palette is pastel, which I don't always do. Usually there is some dark element in an outfit (most often just because my shoe choices are limited) but here, the entire thing nudges soft and inviting. The bat wing style jacket is a thin light fabric, so it has a tendency to float around - sometimes exposing some of the crochet sleeve of the dress. The braided white upper of the wedge mimics the sleeves intricate, fussy detail too. I tend to over-accessorize at times and I've found a big , interesting cocktail ring adds the necessary pretties I want when picking jewelry. In my outfits I love detail, sometimes more than the overall silhouette which is the case with this choice.

This outfit is a favorite because the shoes are comfortable, the fabric patterns & weight are cheery and feminine, I feel that I still look put together even if I ditch the jacket -- and of course, I like to show my legs.

Isn't she lovely?!! Show her love in the comments...

Lo Quiero Ahora: She's Got Curves

Found a great online store recently. Not to mention the owner is awesome. So I wanted to spotlight a few items from her site that I love... But first the link...

(Don't you just love the name)
She's a fairly new retailer so she is adding new items almost weekly. So if you don't see anything you want now, keep checking back. As an incentive, she is offering my readers a 10% discount if you use code: QueenDiva

Now what is even more awesome is the fact that she offers handbags, shoes, and clothing. The future of her site is one-stop shopping.

1. Colored Skinny Jeans in Purple  - purple skinny jeans!!! Nuff said!!
2. Maxi tube dress - seriously, my love for maxi dresses is apparent. So are you even surprised?!
3. Nicole Lee P9989 (CARLA) Mustard - Love big bags... and I don't have a yellow bag, I would rock the heck out of this bag.
4. "Vera"Olive green Belted Maxi Dress - again... maxi dresses... love them... the end!!!
5.  NICOLE LEE P1100 (NYDIA) PURPLE - another bag that would step up my diva... so summer hot!!
6. "Pargi" Red Platform Beaded Heel - these shoes are amazing... is it any surprise that of the items above, these are already on the way... review coming soon!!
7. Rhinestone trim denim - these are fire hot... I must make them mine... and we know how i feel about my skinnies.
8. "Brigette" White Snake Skin Platform Pump - would take any pair of black slacks or a lbd up about 20 notches.

What do you think? Let the shopping begin!!!

DOTD: Anniversary Dreamy and my PrincessDivas Makeovers

Before I go on to my outfit... I wanted to take a minute to show my little angels (mis angelitas). I cut and styled their hair today. Here are the before and after pics...
The first row is the before pics. And the last row is how they looked when all the work was done.
Mari (4yr old) - Has a hatred for hair and having her hair done. She screams and hollers until I want to cut all my hair off.
Yaz (6yr old) - Loves her hair, and although it is thick and curly, she still wants to wear it out. I texterized her hair (trust me, i had no other choice) and then trimmed some dead ends. She is estatic.

PrincessDiva Yaz & PrincessDiva Mari

Now as for me, when I preparing for my pre-anniversary day of errands(its tomorrow), I decided that pink would be an awesome way to say… I Love You! As it is one of my favorite colors (seriously I have so many, who can keep up) but I just wanted to look nice. We didn’t go anywhere special, but I could tell that hubby was happy & proud to be with me everywhere we went. Also, I felt so pretty… and that’s what really counts.

We all deserve pretty days like today, I have to admit I'm blessed with a kinda high confidence so my “unpretty” days are few and far between. But today was different, I felt… aglow… does that make sense? Have you ever had a day where pretty just didn’t seem to fully express how great you feel?

Supporting My Divas: Me love you long time...

I have been slacking, I know... I have been trying to get myself together to get  back on track. So for the first time in weeks, a  "Supporting My Divas" post. These blogs are by no case new to me. I have been following these blogs for a while. I am so behind, that it may be a while before I list any that are newly found. So, if you know of these great blogs, that's fine. But if you've found any that are new that I haven't mentioned... my email box is always open to suggestions.

BLOGS TO SUPPORT:

Gazel of Bonjour Gazel! has a wonderful blog. She has great taste and she takes awesome risks that always end up looking great. Short dress... adorable. Fringe haircut... amazing. Now to really take her awesome-ness to the next level, she has created a new community on Livejournal (epaisse) that is similar to WIWT2 for plus size posters. In her words "an alternative for those who are uncomfortable posting there and would like a plus size community on livejournal that is more constructive criticism and "quality outfits" instead of stuff just thrown on and praises given by the bucket". Isn't that AWESOME? I know... you already know of her and if not... support her now... you know you want to... also join the LJ community

Letilor of le blog de letilor is another awesome contender. If you swing by, you will immediately know why I am a fan. The colors, oh the colors!!! She seems to have the same affliction that I have, that she can't wear boring drab colors with out adding a splash of something bright. And you know I love how she pulls it off. Be it tights, shoes, or belt... the woman has a way with color. If you haven't followed her... do yourself a favor and make sure she is on your Blog Read list going forward...

Do you know Amanda? Of course you know Amanda... the positive force behind one of my favorite blogs: Fashion Love and Martinis. She is also has a Youtube Channel and I have yet to go to any account she has and not add her. She's on my twitter, facebook, youtube, blackberry, and I follow her blog... wait... its official... I'm stalking her... poor poor Amanda... Make it better by giving her a few more followers... maybe my stalking won't appear so obvious.

Jules has a blog... and its called... wait for it... Boom Boom Pow. OMG!!! The name says it all. She's showing legs, curvacious bootie, and a little bit of cleavage. I think I have a girl crush on her. She is working it. There is no doubt that you will go to her blog and will find some inspiration as I have. If she keeps this up, she will surpass us all with followers. As hot as she's looking, she will probably gain a few male followers to boot. Hope you love it like I do... Follow Her!!

Beth... Beth... can you hear me calling you Beth? Yes... you are pretty... and Pretty in Plus is an great blog that should be celebrated. Best part about your blog my dear... your poses... but I'm sure you know that. As for the rest of my readers, I have no doubt you will love Beth... I am obsessed  dedicated to her blog. When she announces a new post, I rush to read it on my blackberry if I'm not near my laptop. Show her some love mis amigas. (p.s. love her in the purple plaid dress & leggings post)

Show the love by following these awesome women. And I promise to not let so much time come between support posts. :)

Sizes to Fit Review: Sergeant Diva reporting for duty!

I was provided by the great folks at Sizes To Fit a few dresses that I could review on my blog, and they arrived yesterday. As this is a retailer that has not been reviewed by any other bloggers (that I am aware of), this was a great opportunity for me to be a front runner. A leader as opposed the follower.

I received 3 dresses, but I am going to review one a week over the next couple of weeks (I hope). I decided to review the denim dress first as denim dresses are so hot right now. And this one has the military look that is also equally popular.

The Dress: Gold Button Front Tab Dress - $24.99 (that’s the actual price!!!)

The Review: I have many dresses. And I am not afraid of showing a little cleavage or a little leg. This dress is not for the faint of heart. It comes a bit above the knee (I’m 5’8) and the cleavage show is ample. But I think it is super cute and sexy. The denim is stretchy and comfortable. I sat down and pulled and tugged without moving the dress. I like to check the actual stretch in a dress in case I fluctuate in weight (as we fatshionistas sometimes do) and this dress seriously passes the test.

Now ladies who do not like to invest in supportive undergarments, know that I tried this dress without a bra… and it was a laugh and a half. This dress was not equipped for my girth. The zipper kept coming down as it struggled to maintain control over my boobs. I tried it with a super padded bra and it looked like my boobs were struggling for air. Below you will see that I have on my normal strapless bra and that is the look that it accomplished.

My husband is a fan, and at the end of the day, that is all that matters. His favorite (just to give you something to look forward to) will be the last dress that I review for this series.

So to recap, the make is great, the dress is comfortable, and the price is super affordable. There is little that could make this better. But wait… there IS more… the owner of Sizes to Fit has taken it a bit further by offering my awesome readers a coupon code that is valid until the end of July: DDT0710 for 10% off your entire order at Sizes to Fit!

Now go check them out and the super cute new additions that have arrived just since my Lo Quiero Ahora: Sizes to Fit post. If you decide to purchase, let me know what you will buy!!

MOTD: Sigma Makeup Brush Review (Patriotic)

Yesterday I received my new Sigma Makeup brushes. I love my MAC brushes, but as I am broke, I was probably not going to own them all until 2025. So I heard this rumor that Sigma brushes were like MAC brushes, but affordable. As a growing make-up guru, I had to test this theory. So today I used my sigma brushes and… they are everything I heard they were. Wouldn’t even mind a second set… but well… you know…

I am reviewing: Sigma Makeup Professional Brushes Complete Kit in Pink - $89.00

Comes with 12 brushes (and a bonus brush) + a brush roll

Pros
Great coverage
Soft bristles
Great handles (seriously they are that heavy feel so you always feel in control. The handles are also long so no slippage)
Cons
Only one con as far as I can see… the initial shedding. Every brand has that shed you must endure 3 hairs on the larger brushes aren’t bad. No shedding on the smaller brushes. So seriously, not any con.

Needless to say, at this point, I love these professional brushes. I even did my MOTD with them. Tell me what you think. Remember the brushes use the same numbering as MAC but with SS preceding.

I'm calling this look: Patriotic

Makeup Breakdown:
Face
Brushes Used: SS150, SS190, SS187
Primer: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind
Bronzer: Maybelline Mineral Power Bronzer (Dark)
Foundation Primer: Makeup Forever (MUFE) HD Primer – Caramel

Eye Base: 1st - a thin coat of Motives eye base. 2nd - another coat of MAC Groundwork. Still hate creases.

DOTD: Before the ring on your finger turns Green

I love the title of this blog entry. So today I wanted to be comfortable, and when I got up this green dress was calling my name. I didn't want to wear a strapless bra, and this dress was loose and long and like wearing a nightgown. I also wanted to work on my green makeup abilities. I sometimes have a problem making it look too.. ummm tooo... drag queenish. So, I figured practice makes perfect, so expect a bit of green every week from here on out. I say that praying that I am able to bring you more outfits in the future. After taking these pics, my camara died *GASP*
I will not stay on longer than 2 seconds, even after charging. So I pray that 24 hours of resting will do the job. As I don't have gainful employment (and this blog is not earning me one red cent) I am not able to purchase another camera. Not to mention my cell is not a good source of pictures. I hope that you will still tune in for other features, and know that I hope to return soon.

Also, I intend to start to break down my makeup going forward.

DOTD: Golden Coral (not orange)

When I asked my BFF (Diva Dawn) what color I should wear yesterday... she said Coral. She stated that I've worn just about about every color, but she doesn't recall me wearing coral. And you know... neither do I. Yesterday, however, I never left my house nor did I get dressed. So here is coral outfit....

And used 4 colors on the eyes... used red in the far corner crease... i love how it turned out...
