I want to blog… fashion and blogging is my one creative outlet… however… I am super swamped at work. Yesterday, it was the hottest day of the year (come to find out today will be even hotter) and I had a stroke of genius to take my pictures in the morning. Luckily I did because around noon I found out I had to work until almost 10pm last night. But what is hilarious is that while I took these pictures… I was already sweating at 7:30 in the morning… THAT IS CRAZY!!!!
Here is what is going on in my life currently….
Oh… that’s right… nothing. I work… come home and go to sleep. I hope to take a vacation next month with my family to Busch Gardens. I don’t want it to get to the point that all I do is work… but I want the people at my job to know I’m dependable and that what I say I will do… and will get done correctly the first time. So that is my question for today. Are you a career woman with a family? How do you balance work & family? Does your spouse (if you have one) support you in your career? Would you do anything differently if you could? Hasta la proxima ~besitos~
P.S. No makeup because it was too hot for makeup in my opinion.

Hey! I just found your blog through Kiyonna; congrats on being on their fashion diva list! I guess I would qualify as a career woman with a family - it's not a career to me, it's just a job, and family comes first! How do I balance it? Not very well, or at least not as well as I would like. I always feel pulled in one direction or another, but hopefully since I finished my masters, the pulls won't be as bad! It's hard to balance a job and a family - one always demands more time, and there's only 24 hours in a day. Usually I have to get up from work and say enough is enough, and just go home. My kids usually miss mommy so much, that I hate staying late, even to meet a deadline. I try to be present all the time - so when I'm at work, I'm at work. When I'm home, I'm home. It's definitely a challenge! Just remember that once you get in the habit of staying late, people will expect it. It's hard because you want people to know you're reliable, but you have to manage their expectations with reality (no one is perfect). Keep up the good work, and enjoy your vacation!
That is a fantastic blazer. It's nice to see other, curvy women out there embracing the stripes that we've been told for ages that we can't wear.
That jacket is so cute, I never find cute things in Dots. My father recently passed away and I have to say this has put a lot of things in perspective for me. Family is the most important thing in the world, because when you have nothing else you have them. I think you can be a hard worker and still have a good family life. Just let your employer know when your there its all work and your dependable, but don't miss our too much on the family.
Hey lady...I am always a sucker for the black and white and a pop color combo. This is no exception and this why I copped that blazer too...lol. You look great! As far as the balancing act, I give my all on my job with a little extra here and there. I have a great work support system so it is understood that I can only give what my full work day requires and that is it. I make sure that this is understood. You know the old saying...you give an inch they take a mile. So I am careful not to consistently give that inch. But yes...you need to make time for vacation this summer, you deserve it!

Love your dress!!!!
I love that outfit and the heat is killing me too! I cant wait for it to cool back down. As far as your questions go, I'm lucky in the fact that my work stays in the office so I don't have to bring it home with me like my husband does. Unfortunately though, I have one of those jobs that just drains every bit of the life out of you. By the time I get home, I'm usually mentally whooped and just want to relax. My hubby hates my job and wishes I'd do something else because of the affect it has on me but he supports my decision to keep doing it, if that makes any sense.
Very Cute lady!!!!!
It does makes sense. Because it is what I what I was going through on my previous job. Hubby supported me, but he hated the job and how little they appreciated my work. You are lucky to be able to keep work at work though...
You're probably right. And my fear is that if I stop going that extra mile it will appear as though I'm slacking (going through one of those moments currently). I just don't want to get burnt out... because I do generally love what I do. My vacation will definitely be time well spent :)
I love and live for stripes. At first I was scared of them... but then I realized... I don't care about fashion rules... I like what I like. I also love love love polka dots :)
I'm so glad you found me through Kiyonna. I am so humbled and blessed to have been featured. You advice was well written and something I will make sure my company understands. That I will help out where I can... but don't always expect it. Thanks for stopping by... I hope it isn't the last time you visit :)
I'm so so sorry to hear about your father. Hearing that does put it all in perspective. Considering I work this job and then also work security occasionally... I think I need to make more time for the family moments so I don't regret it later. Thanks for this comment... :)
Thank you so much :)
I feel exactly the same way. I bought a striped tanktop ages ago and never wore it, then about a month ago I just decided to try it and I love it now. As to polka dots, that's a new door that's opened for me recently as well.
Rules are made to be broken, it seems :D
your shoes are always on point! cute outfit! I don't have a family yet but i often wonder how i will balance it all so let me know how it works for you lol
I just stumbled across your blog and I'm already loving it! You've got killer style and the way you balance family and work while still looking fierce is so inspirational. I'll definitely be keeping up with your posts from now on! :)
It's never easy balancing work and family. I work-job not career, although I love what I do. It's hard not to bring work-angst home-from both spouse's p.o.v. somehow u have to make it work! As women we try to anyway. Btw- once again-love your style!!
