DOTD: She Nailed Me!

First let me begin by thanking Luvvi who followed me officially and gave me my 1 follower back... lmao... priceless... and I love you for it.

Also, here is something that NEVER occured to me... that there are people who read my blog on a daily/weekly basis who don't "officially" follow my blog. Why that never dawned on me is a mystery... **please note this is why so many of my friends thing I'm a ditz**
I am sometimes soooooo slow on the uptake. I mean don't tell me a joke... it will take me a good 20 minutes to get the punchline.

So there is nothing spectacular to report in my life other than the fact that last night... I got my nails done... and cut them in half. If you've looked closely at any of my pictures while I've been unemployed, you would see that I was working with some pink & white claws. But yesterday I hit one on something and literally split my real nail in half... OUCH!!!!!!!!!! So much so that I kept whining during the repair and my nail Goddess, Mimi, told me to stop being such a big baby (its okay, me and Mimi have been in a commited nail relationship for 8 years... I started seeing her 12 years ago... cheated with other nail salons... and eventually realized no one in the WORLD is as good or as OCD as she is). She also told me that she wouldn't do this nail dance with me another time. That the only one who likes long nails on me is well... ME... and that I needed to cut them down or she was going to start charging me an aggravation fee for always breaking nails... in case you can't get it from this post... I love that lady... she's honest, great at what she does... and doesn't have any qualms about calling me on my BS... How can I not love that...
Also, her husband works there too... and he does my pedicures (which I haven't had one in almost a year due to finances) but he is hilarious because he always asks me as soon as he sees me... Deluxe pedicure? well for the last 8 months I've said... NO!! So last night, I tell this man that I got a job, and he rubs his hand together and says,  "finally... deluxe pedicure..." and cracks up laughing. I said not tonight you crazy man. He said, "fine... we'll wait until you get paid... but you NEED a DELUXE pedicure... almost a year no pedicure... you're going to make me earn my tip that day" He is freaking hilarious... little comedian... I told him with the pedicures he gives... he may have to live with my family so those foot massages can be on a daily basis... lol. So again I say... I love my nail salon. So if you're ever in the Glen Burnie area... swing on by Nail Club on Crain Hwy, ask for Mimi and tell her that Yolanda with the pink & whites sent you.

Well.... with all that said... here is what I wore today. I have yet another outfit with this vest. Listen to me ladies when I say that you can rework so many items in your closet if you take the time to be creative. I google ideas, and I WRITE THEM DOWN. So how would you wear this vest? And is there anything in my past posts you would like to see me rework? I originally wore this with stilettos, but soon after the photos decided that I've had my fill of super high stilettos this week... so I traded them in for my boots and I don't have any full body shots with the boots... sorry...

What do you think?

Tights: Silkies

DOTD: Powerful Grown Up Clothes

Okay, this outfit post wasn’t going to happen. I got dressed this morning and was about to walk out the door and hubby stopped me and said… “wait… your pictures”. I said “no this outfit isn’t that cute”… he said… “yes it is… I really like it… let’s take the pictures”

How could I say No to that? I think he actually made me blush. So here is the picture of my outfit… I didn’t put on makeup today. To much to get done. And I ended up changing the way I tied the scarf to the rose-tie… I had on purple earrings (color I pulled out of the scarf). So here are my pictures… Nothing fancy, just another day at work.

eShakti Review: Take a Bow

Last month when everyone was posting happy about their mustard pieces in their closets, I realized two things… 1) I really love the color. Its darker than yellow but its still bright and makes you think “Fall/Autumn” ready   2) I do not own any mustard colored pieces… at all. So I decided that I would rectify that and decided to go with the dress you see below from eShakti. I was a little worried because I’ve seen some size issues on the web. And some other issues regarding the finished product, but I knew this dress had to be mine. So I jumped past my fear and decided this dress would be mine. When it arrived last week, I was almost afraid to try it on. But when I did, I knew that this would end up being one of my favorite dresses. Its made of some type of knit fabric, its a wonderful length… and the bow belt… I was sold. I know now that I will have additional pieces in my wardrobe soon… but for now… I am ecstatic that I began with this dress. Get it here: Surplice front knit shirtdress
Best things about this dress:
  1. The material
  2. The color
  3. The bow belt
  4. The fact that there is no belt loop. I feel like with each dress or top that comes with a belt I spend hours of my life cutting loops off items.
  5. Boobie space: I have ample bosom… and yet… there they are… nicely tucked away from site.
  6. length: I really wanted to be able to wear this to work… and this is so a work dress
I finished off the look with my fishnet tights (small fishnet holes), leopard print earrings, black necklace and my ShoeDazzle bow boots. I love the end result… Opiniones?

DOTD: Weekend Warrior

This weekend has been the best weekend I’ve had in a really long time. Hubby and I have been having a difficult go of it for a few months. Being unemployed and broke just makes things hard. Over the past week we have just begun “noticing” each other again.

Friday not much happened, we sat around and watched TV and then went to bed. I was still shaking off the last remnants of a cold so I just wanted to rest and Hubby seemed to want the same. Saturday, Hubby had to work so while he was at work, I put away some clothes I got inm the last couple of week that needed to be put in a nice clean secure place. When Hubby got home we had a “fake” argument that turned into a fit of laughter. We watched some movies and then we had a couple glasses of Moscato – the rest of the evening… use your married people imagination.

But today was the best day of all. He had an early morning estimate to complete so I went with him. After that we enjoyed a date just the two of us and had some great Mexican cuisine to include margaritas. After lunch, we drove home and just talked. I can’t tell you how much fun it was to just… talk. Not about bills, or issues, or feelings… just talk about silly things… laugh and just generally enjoy where we’ve gotten after 8 years of being together. I realized today… I really honestly love this man… and would die if I lost him from my life. He completes me in a way no one else could. Anyway… here is what I wore today to have this great day with this awesome man… What did you do this weekend?

Sizes To Fit Review: Lacey without Cagney

I think I’ve mentioned about a million times how much I love lace… well when I saw this jacket, I instantly fell in love. Sizes to Fit sent it to me to allow me an opportunity to review it.

The Item I reviewed: Lace Motorcycle Jacket - $35.99

0031699

The Review: This jacket doesn’t currently zip… because well I am top heavy. And its a bit snug on my arms, but that doesn’t change the love I have for this. I have large arms and I know it will probably fit better on others with human sized arms. The entire jacket is lace material and when I had it on, many people asked me where I had purchased it, so that let me know that it would be popular to others. I realize it will be great for spring and fall as it doesn’t do much to block the elements. But if you are just wearing this to complete an outfit (as I did) it won’t matter that it doesn’t stop the wind.

Lucie Lu Review: Taryn up the place

Okay, being a blogger is great and I love it more than anything. But what I really love is that it allows me to reinvent outfits that didn’t quite work the first time. That has nothing to do with this review. But its something I wanted to mention. I also love the items that I get to review because it helps extend an otherwise boring closet. As you already know, I love Lucie Lu and her clothing. I love the materials used in her clothing. This month Lucie Lu provided me with this tunic. This tunic comes in a lace print and I have to say… I love love love love lace. The print, the fabric, the sexiness of it.

The item reviewed: Taryn Tunic-Lace Print - $48.00

The Review: The material feels like a much softer, stretchy sweatshirt material. Its comfy and it’s long. So if you wanted to wear this to work with leggings or tights without upsetting your co-workers, this would be a great addition to your closet. The lace pattern is hot for me because I am a huge fan of lace. I love that its sleeveless because I can wear it with blazers and with my lace jacket (review coming soon) with out sweating. I also love love love the big pockets. I won’t put anything in them but my hands, but I still love them.

How I really wore it:

IMG_0058 IMG_0041 IMG_0043

If you haven’t purchased from Lucie Lu yet… NOW is the time to do so. She has a great number of great fall pieces I would love to add to my wardrobe, so I know you will feel the same.

And if you haven’t purchased yet… what in the heck are you waiting for?

DOTD: Working Girl

So I am going to give you all incite on who I am. Here are a few things about myself that you probably don’t care to know but I will tell you anyway.

1. I love the movies Working Girl, Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, and Under the Same Moon. The last one is Spanish with English subtitles but it is an amazing heartfelt movie… I recommend it.

2. I love that I have my tongue pierced. I think it sets me apart from others who look like me but aren’t quite as risky.

3. My kids are amazing… I mean they are funny, and imaginative, and creative. They are mine and I know I’m impartial, but they ROCK!!

4. I have a potty mouth when I’m in traffic. I say things I wouldn’t normally say… so if you’re ever in a car with me… cover your ears.

5. I am addicted to NCIS… every single episode gets watched, rewatched, and watched again.

That is just a peek at who I am maybe I will give you more tidbits later. Also, today I wore purple. I would have worn purple yesterday but I felt like it wasn’t right. I instead waited and wore it today. It was a good decision because the woman in the office who was the LEAST friendly of everyone had on purple yesterday. And I think if we had on the same colors on the same day, it may have been trouble. More trouble then she currently is…

I do love the new job… no training period… just jump in and get the work done. LOVE IT!!!

DOTD: First day back to work

Today was my first day back to work and this outfit was so hard for me to settle on. I wanted something professional but also something that had a bit of my personality embedded in it. It was much cuter in person because the skirt has a side slit that you see when I’m walking or when my legs are crossed. The tights are ribbed similiar to my top.
I’m in a good mood because I’m working again, but by the time I took these pics… I am now officially exhausted. I have more to say but I’m puckered…

Outfit Breakdown:
Top: Dots
Skirt: unknown (have had this skirt so so long)
Tights: Wal-mart
Booties: ebay (seller: metronomestudios)
Scarf: Lucie Lu
Earrings: Beauty Supply

DOTD: Chic-a because of mi amiga

So this outfit was not my idea. First, I feel that these pictures do not do this outfit justice. Its super duper cute and I’m not sure that is conveyed in the pictures below. I wish the pants were a better fit but apparently lost a bit of weight and can’t afford another pair of pants, currently. So this idea was posted in the comments of the last City Chic vest post by my friend Brenda Jean (Tootsicle) and when she said her idea, I wrote it down. And since that day I have been anxiously awaiting the day cool enough to wear it. So this should prove that I read each and every comment and I want to better my divalooks of the day (DOTD) for my readers without losing my own sense of self. If I disagree… then you won’t see me change, but know I want your honest feedback and criticism because I am serious about being a blogger who inspires others.

Turtleneck: Wal-mart

Pants: New York & Co

Boots: Connie (Rack Room Shoes)

Vest: City Chic
